@KelseyTuoc Prairie fire model? The people most likely to be victims of homocide (gang members, etc.) tend also to be very likely to be perpetrators (i.e. the same 500 people make up 80% of victims and perps) so big spike means there are fewer perpetrators too.
@dilanesper I always use the North Hollywood shootout as an example of why it is helpful concept (although only the criminals died in that event), if both robbers are blasting away and one’s bullets kills someone and the others miss, there is no moral difference.

@katrosenfield I think it is because they know you are in the market and may not like/return that new bed…so a much higher baseline of buying a new bed right after you bought one compared to a random person that did not just buy a bed.
