This semester I have been taking a tech class, and I have learned so much that we can do to better our schools with the help of technology! My fav lesson that I have learned in this semester would be using 3d printers as tool for accommodating SDC students. #csubted4200#csubted
@paulmagall20595@tom_karnes@Ststansberry Hi Paul, it’s amazing that your school district takes the time to introduce new technology. This is definitely a good way to get new resources and all the other classes will be on the same page as you!
@csubmari@tom_karnes@csubted@DrEddiesClass I agree Mari! Collaborating with your education team is a perfect way to find new resources. Another great thing about it is that they have tried it in their classroom so you know its worth a try.
A4) When looking for new ways to incorporate technology, I would turn to a colleague. Expanding your knowledge of resources can be a great way to adjust classroom flow. I would test out the resource in my class to be sure it’s a good fit. #CSUBTED#csubedte4200@doctor2pi
Last evening of the Slow Chat! Here's the next question. Make sure you include A4) before your response. Don't forget to tag #CSUBTED , #CSUBEDTE4200, and your EDTE 4200 professor.
@mrzeeeeeeeee@Ststansberry@doctor2pi Hi Jose! I agree with you and everyone else! Apps like Google translate can be extremely useful, however overuse of this app could be hurtful. For example, a non-english speaking student misses out on human connection if they were to be speaking to a computer all the time.
A3) One tool I love to use is extremely simple; closed captions. Closed captions allows multilingual learners to understand words they may not know in English for any video shown in class. This tool will keep your multilingual students engaged. #csubted#csubedte4200@doctor2pi
Wednesday fun! Here's the next question in the CSUB EDTE4200 Slow Chat. Make sure you include A3) before your response. Don't forget to tag #CSUBTED , #CSUBEDTE4200, and your EDTE 4200 professor.
@Cassandra_CSUB@doctor2pi Prodigy is a great tool. Kids that I work with today are so engaged about math just because of that game added “touch”. I love seeing the competitive side of students when playing this game!
A2) An online resource that I would recommend to other people would be class dojo. Class dojo is a great tool to encourage students of behavior. What is best about this resource is that parents can also keep track of students’ class behavior #csubted@doctor2pi
@BrandonBax68860@doctor2pi Brandon, google classroom is an amazing tool. So many teachers use it nowadays and they shows me more new things about it everyday. Also it’s easy for kids to use!
@JeanneHeat84308@doctor2pi@DrEddiesClass Hello Jeanne! Our district also uses clever. The cool thing about clever is that you can find all of your students' applications needed for school in one place. I have only heard good things about Clever from parents.
@kim177346323352 @doctor2pi Hello Kim. I agree, I believe that technology is a fabulous tool to assist not only students, but families! Connecting to the home life of students is the best way to give them the support they need.
@AudreyLucha@DrEddiesClass Hello Audrey. Welcome to CSUB! I am also a long term substitute teacher but for an elementary school instead. I think it is pretty awesome that you are teaching architecture! Good luck this semester!
@SantaMonson@DrEddiesClass@tom_karnes Hello Santa! Congratulations on graduating! That is so exciting to know that you are one step closer to your future. I am also a substitute teacher, you will absolutely love it! Good luck!
@DrEddiesClass Hello everyone! My name is Lainey Elcano. I am a senior at California State University of Bakersfield. After I graduate, I am hoping to pursue teaching in special education. I am currently a substitute teacher! #csubted@doctor2pi
A1) Teachers can use technology for all different types of student needs. Academically, technology can be used to keep students engaged. Youtube videos can be used as a fun mini lesson for content areas that may be difficult to understand. #CSUBted#CSUBedte4200
