Deeply saddened by the demise of the legendary former West Indies all-rounder and one of the greatest cricketers of all time, Sir Garfield Sobers.
He made his debut when I was two years old in 1954 and retired the year I joined Indian Foreign Service in 1974. In his career spanning two decades he played 93 Tests, scored 8,032 runs and took 235 wickets.

An entertaining left-handed batter, he was named one of Wisden's five cricketers of the 20th century and was also inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.

With his passing away at 89, one of cricket’s greatest innings comes to an end, but his cricketing skills will continue to inspire cricketers and followers of the game.

Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena unveiled the commemorative plaque and graced the ceremony marking the successful completion of geothermal wells GT#02 and GT#03 by #ONGC Energy Centre at Puga Valley.

The occasion was attended by Shri Himanshu Gupta, IAS, Administrative Secretary, Power Development Department; and Ms Shashanka Ala, IAS, Secretary to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor; Shri Nitish Rajora, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Changthang; along with senior officials of the UT Administration and ONGC leadership represented by Director (Technology & Field Services) @vikramsONGC.

Drilled to a depth of 1,000 metres each at an altitude of over 14,000 feet, the wells represent a major advancement in India’s indigenous geothermal exploration and field-development capabilities. The achievement lays a strong foundation for the proposed 1 MWe pilot geothermal power plant at Puga, envisaged as India’s first demonstration-scale geothermal power project.

By advancing reliable, round-the-clock renewable energy in the Himalayan region, the Puga Geothermal Project marks an important step towards strengthening national energy security, technological self-reliance and India’s clean-energy transition.

With India’s energy sector poised to grow as we progress into the future under the leadership of PM Sh @narendramodi Ji, the need for trained and skilled professionals will also grow.
The sector will create opportunities for direct and indirect employment for our youth.
I reviewed the functioning of the Hydrocarbon Sector Skill Council (HSSC) and our Skill Development Institutes today. Since inception, HSSC has trained and upskilled over 2.34 lakh professionals for the energy sector with 78 qualification packs developed across upstream, midstream, downstream, safety and energy transition including Green Hydrogen, CBG, biofuels and rooftop solar.

Reviewed the overseas upstream E&P portfolio of India’s energy sector PSUs today. The sector includes ONGC Videsh, IOCL, BPRL, OIL and GAIL which share a combined footprint spanning 20+ countries across North America, Latin America, CIS, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.

These entities hold equity in active producing assets alongside key development projects in Mozambique, Brazil, UAE, Venezuela and Libya, with cumulative investments running into billions of dollars. A clear reaffirmation that India's energy security strategy extends confidently beyond our shores.

जंतर-मंतर पर सोनम वांगचुक के अनशन को आज 17 दिन पूरे हो गए हैं और इतने पर भी सरकार की तरफ से एक बयान तक नहीं आया है। ये देखकर शशि थरूर की एक मारक बात याद आ गई जो उन्होंने जयपुर लिटरेचर फेस्टिवल में कही थी।
शशि थरूर कहते हैं कि
"महात्मा गांधी का सत्याग्रह, अंहिसा और अनशन इसलिए कारगर साबित हुआ क्योंकि उनके सामने अंग्रेज थे जो कुछ हद तक सही थे अंग्रेज जानते थे कि वे गलत कर रहे हैं, वे मीडिया और दुनिया की नजर में जवाबदेह थे। इसलिए गांधी के सत्याग्रह और अनशन ने उन्हें परेशान और शर्मिंदा किया।
लेकिन अगर यही तरीका हिटलर के खिलाफ अपनाया जाता तो काम नहीं आता, क्योंकि उसके पास कोई नैतिक संकोच नहीं था और ना उसे किसी मीडिया या अंतरराष्ट्रीय दबाव की चिंता थी।

अब इस बात को भारत पर लागू करके देखिए-

2014 से पहले अन्ना हजारे का अनशन का तरीका इसलिए कारगर साबित हुआ क्योंकि उनके सामने कांग्रेस थी जिसकी सरकार में मीडिया को आजादी थी और उसे दुनिया में भारत की इमेज की चिंता थी।
और अब सोनम वांगचुक का अनशन इसलिए कारगर नहीं हो रहा क्योंकि उनके सामने बीजेपी है और बीजेपी के हाथ में मीडिया है बाकि बीजेपी क्या है ये सब जानते हैं...

The commissioning of the HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Limited (HRRL) is much more than the completion of a major industrial project. It is a significant milestone in India's journey towards greater energy security, industrial self-reliance and economic growth.
My heartfelt congratulations to the entire HPCL and
HRRL teams, along with their technology partners, contractors, engineers, technicians and workers whose dedication has made this achievement possible.
Greenfield refineries are one of the most complex infrastructure projects a nation builds. They demand years of planning, engineering excellence and flawless execution. Having had the opportunity of being closely associated with the commissioning of IndianOil's 15 MMTPA Paradip Refinery, I have experienced first-hand the challenges involved-from coordinating with technology licensors and commissioning highly integrated process units to creating a strong safety culture and training a new operating workforce.
These experiences reinforce an enduring truth: a refinery is built not only with steel and technology, but with the collective commitment of thousands of people working towards a common purpose.
When Paradip Refinery was commissioned in 2016, it reflected India's growing capability to execute projects of global scale and complexity. The successful commissioning of HRRL carries that legacy forward and further strengthens our nation's refining ecosystem.

As India progresses towards becoming a developed economy, modern and efficient refineries will continue to play a vital role.
Alongside the growth of renewables, biofuels and hydrogen, they will remain essential in ensuring reliable energy supplies, supporting petrochemicals, enabling industrial growth and enhancing national energy resilience.
Every new refinery is therefore an investment in India's future-creating skilled employment, strengthening regional development and reinforcing the country's long-term energy security.
What has always distinguished India's public sector energy companies is our shared commitment to nation-building. Every major milestone achieved by one organisation strengthens the collective capabilities of the entire sector.

यह केवल एक रिफाइनरी नहीं, बल्कि आत्मनिर्भर भारत की ऊर्जा शक्ति का नया प्रतीक है।

लगभग ₹79,000 करोड़ की लागत से निर्मित पचपदरा स्थित ग्रीनफील्ड एकीकृत रिफाइनरी एवं पेट्रोकेमिकल कॉम्प्लेक्स PM @narendramodi जी के दूरदर्शी नेतृत्व का जीवंत प्रमाण है। 'जिसका शिलान्यास करते हैं, उसका उद्घाटन भी करते हैं' के मंत्र को मजबूती है।

9 MMTPA की रिफाइनिंग क्षमता और 2.4 MMTPA की पेट्रोकेमिकल उत्पादन क्षमता से युक्त यह दुनिया की सबसे आधुनिक रिफाइनरियों में से एक है। इससे भारत की रिफाइनिंग क्षमता को नई मजबूती मिलेगी, ऊर्जा सुरक्षा सुदृढ़ होगी और पेट्रोकेमिकल क्षेत्र को नई गति मिलेगी।

इसके निर्माण के दौरान 1.35 लाख से अधिक प्रत्यक्ष एवं अप्रत्यक्ष रोजगार सृजित हुए। अब यह परियोजना हजारों युवाओं के लिए नए अवसर पैदा करेगी तथा MSME, पैकेजिंग, टेक्सटाइल जैसे अनेक उद्योगों को नई ऊर्जा प्रदान करेगी।

एलपीजी, पेट्रोल, डीज़ल और पेटकोक का उत्पादन प्रारंभ हो चुका है।

मोदी जी के नेतृत्व में भारत की ऊर्जा यात्रा एक नए पड़ाव पर पहुँची है।
यह रिफाइनरी केवल ईंधन नहीं बनाएगी, बल्कि विकसित राजस्थान से विकसित भारत के संकल्प को नई शक्ति देगी।
