🚨 WAKE UP, ODISHA!

At first glance, this looks like another big investment win for Odisha. @AMNSIndia

But look deeper.

AM/NS India has secured a 30-year concession at Paradip with a capacity of 10 MTPA to move iron ore pellets from its Odisha plant to its Hazira steel plant in Gujarat.

Odisha gives the iron ore.
Odisha hosts the pellet plant.
Odisha provides the port & infrastructure.
But the major steel-making value addition happens in Gujarat.
Is this really the industrial model Odisha should accept?

We cannot remain a state that extracts minerals, makes intermediate products and then watches the higher-value manufacturing happen elsewhere.

If AM/NS wants such a massive, long-term presence in Odisha, the Odisha Government should ask a simple question:

👉 Where is the steel plant in Odisha?

Don't just take our ore.
Create the complete value chain here.

We need:
⛓️ Iron ore → Pellets → DRI → Steel → Downstream manufacturing → MSMEs → Jobs

Not:
⛏️ Odisha's minerals → 🏭 Odisha pellet → 🚢 Gujarat → 💰 Gujarat's value addition.

Odisha has sacrificed enough of its natural resources for India's industrialisation.
Our minerals should create Odisha's prosperity—not just someone else's.

This is not anti-investment.

This is a demand for better investment.

Odisha must wake up. And our policymakers must negotiate harder.

@_bababooks @IndianTechGuide This is not going to be the alignment. While my state (Odisha) is still finalizing it’s share of the alignment, Andhra has chosen it’s north western ghat sections that runs parallel to NH16. It will be passing through multiple new districts than NH16 in Odisha.

@manas_muduli For 4 overbridges and lane widening and service road 580cr seems a lot less than the amount estimate proposed by works department earlier(960 cr). I doubt what the quality of work would be with this budget.
A simple 6 lane 1 km overbridge costs approx 100-150 cr anywhere in OD

@aravind Bhubaneswar. Weather can be a little harsh during the humid months july-sept. Otherwise, cost of living, modern amenities, night life, infrastructure, connectivity, cleanliness is better than many peer cities.
