@TheeeCandyLand Hopefully they replaced coverage when their prior policy was non-renewed. They were given 90+ days notice that State Farm would not be offering a renewal, and at that time, they likely shopped around for a new policy.

@jdswitchback99 @RobSchneider @StateFarm They didn’t get canceled due to the wild fires… State Farm non-renewed their policy at its expiration date.. providing ample notice to the policyholder to obtain replacement coverage. There is no grounds for a lawsuit…

They tried calling their bluff, and they lost. Whoops!!

@GrazielHer83270 @toddingeorgia @RobSchneider @StateFarm But they didn’t. They provided ample notice that the policy would be non-renewed at its expiration, giving policyholders months to find replacement coverage. State Farm announced this in 2023 and began non-renewing in 2024 (iirc)

Nobody was canceled due to the current wildfires.

Why should they pay for wildfires on policies that were never in force?

I do agree though, policies are poorly worded and almost made to confuse.

@LisaRHP @heartofau197 @RobSchneider @StateFarm To be fair, they didn’t abandon anyone “in a time of crisis”. They non-renewed these policies ahead of time, with plenty of notice to policyholders before their policy expired. They didn’t just cancel policies in the wake of these fires.

@ChadThurman10 Couldn’t agree with you more. The legal climate (specifically in places like CA, NY, NJ) is horrific and only getting worse.

But it really is amazing how many people don’t actually bother to understand what they are paying for, when they purchase an insurance policy. Yikes.
