The fact is that ZERO affordable homes have been delivered in the inner city since 2017. By 2018 it was clear that conservatives in the DA’s City caucus were intent on blocking housing integration, which led to a number of us – led by then-Mayor Patricia De Lille – resigning and establishing the GOOD Party.
All that the City has delivered is repeated hot air. Our 2017 projects have been cancelled, reannounced, launched, reannounced yet again… endlessly. Lots of photo opportunities, but still zero bricks on the ground.

@WesternCapeDA A smoother road starts with better choices, just NOT for the people of Khayelitsha.
That’s the DA separate development (Apartheid) difference.
When we say the DA hates Black people we are told we are racist.
This would not be happening in a white area.
I’m literally sick!
Please register to vote the DA out in November 🙏🏾

@xG_on_Target@AxolileNotywala Half of the City of Cape Town budget is allocated for law enforcement.
I see no excuse why the services cannot be render.
@LilsDjangs@AxolileNotywala Local government doesn't work like that.
It is the duty of the municipality to render services in our communities.
Meaning it's the @Our_DA need to make sure that the residents get services.
Next you will tell us that the DA ward councillor needs to fix potholes Sandton.
Parkwood deserves better
On 24 June, GOOD Mayoral Candidate Brett Herron and Cllr Wesley Neumann met residents in city rental stock.
1. For over 20 years, families have waited on the housing list while facing:
2. Daily gang shootings, feeling unsafe in their own homes
3. Neglected city‑owned rental stock with little maintenance
4. No affordable housing, forcing more backyard dwellers
5. An unfinished sports facility since Helen Zille’s term, a lost chance for youth
GOOD stands with Parkwood: communities deserve safety, homes, and investment.

Brazilian carrier LATAM Airline has launched a new direct flight between São Paulo and Cape Town, flying 3 times a week.
In May 2026 South Africa recorded. 40.6% increase in travel from Brazil when compared to May last year. #WeDoTourism
@Bruceps@ConCourtSA@PatriciaDeLille This was the sale of provincial government land. Zille was Premier. She did the deal with the private school. Alan Winde was in her cabinet . This is DA defending spatial Apartheid . No one else @Bruceps
The Constitutional Court has found the extent of meaningful public participation in the decision to sell a former school in Cape Town's seaside suburb of Sea Point to have been inadequate. https://t.co/f55AjqAIpL
It was an emotional morning at the Sea Point Methodist Church following the Constitutional Court's judgment on the Tafelberg School sale matter. https://t.co/EVUmZmYM8x

Explicitly ruled against the commodification of public land.
Land or property value is not a valid consideration for a government with a constitutional duty to spatial transformation.
Helen Zille once told me using high value well located public land for affordable housing was “over subsidising the poor” 🤯
Now she knows she was wrong.
More importantly housing as a human right trumps property as an investment for government. Government is in the business of providing housing. Not in the business of trading public land.
