Pope Leo XIV asks the Cardinals for their explicit, public support for his ministry as the Successor of Peter, as he opens the Extraordinary Consistory.
We cannot consider #AI to be morally neutral. In reality, every technical tool embodies choices and priorities through what it measures, ignores, and optimizes, and how it classifies people and situations. Ethical discernment cannot be limited to asking whether we are using a system for good or bad purposes. It must also examine how that system is designed and what vision of the human person and society is embedded in the data and models that guide it. #MagnificaHumanitas
Reflection by Pope Leo XIV
"Today, crises have evolved from isolated events into persistent realities, marked by prolonged conflicts, chronic food insecurity, economic volatility, and growing climate vulnerabilities. This raises a fundamental question: what configuration of the global order is capable of producing, reproducing, and, at times, normalizing such conditions? The issue is no longer limited to how to intervene; rather, it extends to understanding why the system constantly produces the very problems it is then forced to correct."

Pope Leo: “We tend to think...that the only issue of morality is sexual....I believe there are much greater, more important issues, such as justice, equality, freedom of men and women, freedom of religion, that would all take priority before that" issue.
The crises we face--climate catastrophe, rising inequality, weakening democracy, pandemic vulnerability--are not isolated market failures.
They are the product of an economic system organised around the wrong assumptions: that markets self-correct, that fiscal responsibility means austerity, that the state should stand back.
'The Common Good Economy: a new compass' provides the framework for a fundamental shift.

I welcome with satisfaction the reaching of an agreement between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America, which will be signed on Friday, as an encouraging result of patient work in dialogue and negotiation. I express my gratitude to the countries that have worked to facilitate a meeting between the parties and to make this agreement possible. I hope that the agreement may help strengthen mutual trust, security, and stability in the Middle East, promoting paths of dialogue and cooperation among peoples. #Peace
