Thank you for this coach!
So tired of the tweets telling kids be respectful, thankful, well- behaved, perfect...or they are not worthy.
HS athletes have so much growing & learning to do. They are adolescents; college coaches should be part of that growth not judges of it.
This reminds me that a lot of people are working the problem of how to get youth sports up & running. Folks across all levels are trying to find solutions but those who are successful have significant resources to deploy & gain. Who is being left out? We already know the answer.
Many of us in the youth sports world have had a zillion zoom meet ups about using the pandemic to re-balance youth sports and increase access and equity. Meanwhile...IRL...

Black communities have experienced violence, racism and hatred for far too long. At The Sports Institute, we cannot do our job of expanding participation and safety in sports without first doing more work to understand the deep-seated inequities that exist in our communities -1/2
@thedailymileUSA is not just for children. It's a great strategy to increase physical activity for adults as well. In fact, our team at The Sports Institute does @_thedailymile every day. Here's a pic of some of us in action! ☀️🏃😎🏃♀️🐕🐈🌱#PetsWelcome#AdultsToo
Coaches:
For every kid who’s using quarantine to “grind,” there’s
1 who watches his siblings all day
1 whose parent lost a job
1 with no backyard, nearby park, or home gym
1 struggling with depression
1 who does school work in the car
Prepare to coach them all.
Thinking outside the box assumes the box itself benefited all students to begin with. Let’s all agree it didn’t. And let’s further agree that we now have the responsibility to create truly equitable school systems. Let’s strengthen our courage muscle and get it done. @AASAHQ
