What sounds more interesting: a comprehensive introduction to linguistics for regular people, or a language learning accelerator using scientific best practices and cutting edge tech (AI, LLMs, etc.)?
@Badgerhound1 Hey thanks. Level of detail for a pop ling vid is a balancing act, but I clearly made the wrong choice here, from the feedback I’ve gotten. There’s a real crisis in academia but no need to worry about my firearm knowledge. I hope you and your dog had a meaningful Veterans Day.
@a66mike99@aakashgupta I’m increasingly skeptical of duolingo, but I’m even more skeptical of ChatGPT, especially for a language like Hebrew. I’d love to see actual output from this, or OP, you know, speaking fluent Hebrew
@Maggie_McNeill@donkeyboy_jack@VoidAtoms Your embedded videos have ads. So you’re sharing twice and many ads AND not even benefiting from it. Not living up to your description in bio if you ask me. I can’t speak to whether it’s better; I’ll leave that to others. TTFN, ta-ta for now!
@Maggie_McNeill@donkeyboy_jack@VoidAtoms I love that you just shared your own blog and called it better. Cold blooded, but I admire the confidence. But you’ve got literally twice as many ads, since you’ve embedded two videos.
@fydbak I use “clearly” in at least two different places. Both of which are in describing specific phenomena that, indeed, are clear, and which in the aggregate inform my professional opinion.
It is my professional opinion as a trained linguist and phonetician that Rich Lowry absolutely did say the “n-word” on the Megyn Kelly Show. I detail the phonetic, articulatory, and psycholinguistic evidence here:
