The foremost (& 1st) #podcast dedicated to #GreenLantern, hosted by 2 Lanternologists: Chad Bokelman & Mark Marble! EST - 2008 by Jim Ford & Dan Kurtzke #GLCast
Apparently “watermelon, cantaloupe, yadda yadda” is what finally got us discovered? Cool. Cool Cool Cool.
Anyway, we’re The LanternCast, a Green Lantern podcast that’s somehow been running since 2008!
We’ve even got an episode breaking down everything we know about @HBO's LANTERNS so far: who’s involved, what the show actually seems to be, and our attempts to decode every scrap @JamesGunn drops like it’s straight out of the Book of Oa!
Welcome to the Corps! Find us wherever you find good podcasts!
With all the LANTERNS discourse going around right now…we tagged in our friend @LanternsPodcast to pull together everything we ACTUALLY know about the series so far.
No speculation. Just facts.

"This is a beginner Green Lantern book."
*shows Rebirth by Geoff Johns*
"This is an amateur Green Lantern book."
*shows vol 1 of the Geoff Johns omnibus*
"This is an expert Green Lantern book."
*shows Blackest Night trade*
Never mind the fact that they're ALL written by Geoff Johns. Never mind the fact that the vol 1 omnibus CONTAINS Rebirth which was already mentioned.
There ARE no "beginner/amateur/expert" comics. You could make the argument that "XYZ comic is better for new readers because it's less bogged down in the continuity knowledge required for multiple different characters" but the problem with that? I know SO MANY COMIC FANS.
Do you know how many people I've spoke to who started reading comics with event comics like Crisis on Infinite Earths? Crisis of all things. Perhaps THE most character heavy story in all of DC history (at least up until THAT point). And yet it still served as an entry point and was done well enough that it hooked what would become a future comic fan.
...and to find the other parts of the story & it's accompanying coverage, locate our GL content brethren throughout the ENTIRE month of June!
You thought #GreenLanternDay was important? How about a MONTH of dedicated GL content from the GL content creators? That's #GLJune baby!
Different favorite Lanterns.
Different favorite eras.
Different opinions on HBO's Lanterns.
This month, none of that matters.
#GLJune is about celebrating Green Lantern together.
Our entry begins w/ The Flash & Green Lantern: The Brave & the Bold #1!

I've always wanted to celebrate when we hit 2,814 followers someday because that's Sector 2814.
Today I'm at 1,824.
It's not the sector I asked for, but apparently it's the sector I deserve. Small victories people, small victories.
#GLJune is back for #greenlantern fans. This video clip below gives a breakdown on what comic run we are covering, who is covering what issue, what dates each issue will drop, and where to find them easily once they are out!
We’ve talked a fair bit about @projecthailmary on the show lately so I feel I can share this here:
Does the existence of Xenonite as a Metal as opposed to a gas technically and inadvertently prove Ryland right about the conditions of life?
Because if I remember the book right, because of how Erid formed and how the Eridians evolved, water did turn out to be key. I also believe I’ve heard @andyweirauthor talk about how he took Rylands theory being wrong into consideration when thinking through the evolution of Eridian biology.
But if I’m not mistaken, I believe one of the central principles of a theory like “water isn’t required for life” would simply be the age old argument, “we don’t know what we don’t know.”
Isn’t then Xenonite existing as a metal instead of a gas an indicator that we still have so much about the Universe to learn?
And isn’t then that turning the argument from “Rylands theory is wrong” to instead being “Rylands theory turned out to be wrong into the case of the Eridians. But it’s still possible”?
Turning 50: After a four-year hiatus, GREEN LANTERN #90 relaunches the series; cover dated August 1976.
By Denny O’Neil & Mike Grell; cover by Grell & Tatjana Wood. #greenlantern#dccomics
Oh trust me, once I realized his whole GL/DC interaction pattern is basically searching out people excited for LANTERNS or Gunn’s DCU so he can argue with them, I stopped putting much stock in the opinion.
People are allowed to dislike things. But actively hunting down other people enjoying something just to dunk on it is a level of investment I can’t really take seriously.
“What do you collect?”
Me: “Comic book stuff…”
“What do you watch?”
Me: “Comic book stuff…”
“What do you read?”
Me: “Sci-Fi…and comic book stuff…”
“…ok you like whiskey! What do you drink?”
Me: “…uh…comic book stuff…”
