That was a short but very busy visit to #Boston that included engagements with the Irish caucus at the State House chaired by @edcoppinger, with young Irish Americans @Irishaporg, a visit to the @rian_center to discuss immigration issues & a panel discussion @EMKInstitute.
Join the Edward M. Kennedy Institute, @humefoundation, & @irelandboston for a panel event celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first meeting between Senator Edward M. Kennedy & John Hume, and its impact on finding a path to peace in Northern Ireland.

Today is the summer solstice, the longest day of the year ☀️
Because Ireland is surprisingly far north, Ireland's longest day is approximately 17 hours long, with the sun rising around 5am and setting around 10pm

We were delighted to visit our friends at the Maine Irish Heritage Center in Portland to celebrate the completion of new restoration projects.
The home of the MIHC was originally built by Irish immigrants in the 19th century and the restoration was sponsored by @GlobalIrish ☘️
Last night @RepRichardNeal, @RepBrendanBoyle, @RepBrianFitz and I issued a joint statement in response to the release of the legislation by the United Kingdom that undermines the Northern Ireland Protocol:
We are honoured to partner with @EMKInstitute and @humefoundation to host a panel discussion commemorating the profound impact of Senator Ted Kennedy and John Hume's relationship on a path to peace in Northern Ireland. (1/3)
Spoke with @MarosSefcovic We’re on the same page.
EU remains keen to find a negotiated solution to NIP through partnership & compromise, but we need a partner that is willing to meet us half way!
Instead U.K. Govt moves ahead with unilateral action to break an Int. Agreement.
Unilateral breach of the Protocol is very serious - an international deal ratified by British Parliament and approved by the PM.
It goes to the heart of the issue of trust.
The only way to resolve issues is by substantive negotiations between UK and EU. (1/2)
Important words by @MichealMartinTD at the @Europarl_EN: Unilateral action to set aside a solemn agreement would be damaging & to the benefit of no one.
Thanks, Taoiseach, for 🇮🇪 continued support for our work on the Protocol on IE/NI. Ireland's interests are also EU interests.
We are excited to support our talented friends in The Here Comes Everybody Players, who will join the @bostonbookfest Lit Crawl this Thursday, June 9 at 6P in Cambridge.
We can't wait to watch their joyful Joycean celebration of #Ulysses100
