Daniel Haqiqatjou is not a conservative preacher who got carried away. He is a Qutbist, and he says so himself! In April he told his followers that to understand the Islamic Republic of Iran, they should skip Shia theology and read Sayyid Qutb's Milestones instead.
That matters. Qutb was the Muslim Brotherhood's leading ideologue in the 1950s and 60s.
Milestones, with its claim that Muslim societies had fallen back into jahiliyya, became the bridge from Brotherhood Islamism to modern jihadism. Ayman al-Zawahiri, later the leader of al-Qaeda, openly credited Qutb as the spark.
Haqiqatjou's Qutbism is so uncompromising that he considers the Western Brotherhood milieu too soft and too liberal!
That is also why he is hostile to Saudi Arabia. In the Qutbist project, a sovereign Saudi state serving as Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques is an obstacle. The goal is a caliphate, not nation states!
This month Daniel showed where that leads. While the Houthis were firing on Saudi cities, he posted a picture of the Makkah Clock Tower with a message to Yemen: "Demolish it."
The tower is part of the King Abdulaziz Endowment, a waqf serving the Masjid al-Haram. He deleted the post, then doubled down and called Saudi policy a unique evil in Muslim history. That is not theology. It is cheering on an Iran-backed militia against the Masjid al-Haram!
So I'm grateful that @HothaAli took the time to remind @Haqiqatjou of a simple fact: Mecca is under the sovereignty and custodianship of Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦.
Islamism in all its forms is best countered with facts!

🇸🇦🤍Saudi National Day wishes are already beginning to appear in my feed, so I would like to join them too. I really hope that next year I’ll be able to celebrate this day in the Kingdom.
Yesterday I came across the post I’m quoting here, and I read it with tears in my eyes.
It is a very personal story, and of course I cannot compare my own experience with everything behind these words. I have spent much less time in Saudi Arabia and still have so much to learn about the country. But while I was reading, I kept recognising things that I had felt myself.
Over the past year I’ve had the pleasure of meeting some wonderful people in Saudi Arabia. And one of the things I found hardest to get used to was how naturally people offered help and cared about things that, to me, seemed very small.
I’m the kind of person who immediately starts worrying that I’m causing inconvenience or creating extra work for someone. So when people offered help before I even asked, I often didn’t quite know what to do with it.
I remember getting messages when heavy rain was expected in Riyadh: “Did you get home? Are you safe?”
At the time, I was still learning that rain in Riyadh could be rather different from the rain I was used to back home. But I never quite got used to people checking on me like that. Every time, it touched me.
And there were many small things like this.
Someone offering help. Someone asking whether everything was okay. Someone taking the time to explain something to me. Someone making sure I felt comfortable.
This is probably what changed my understanding of hospitality most. I used to think of hospitality mainly as a tradition - welcoming a guest, offering food, coffee, making someone feel at home. In Saudi Arabia I began to notice how much of it is simply part of the way people treat each other.
That stayed with me.
I loved the politeness and delicacy I encountered there. And after some time I realised that this was one of the reasons the country had become so important to me.
Of course, I still know only a small part of Saudi Arabia. There is so much of its culture and history that I haven’t even begun to understand properly. Arabic poetry alone is an entire world that I would love to be able to enter one day, and for that I still have a lot of Arabic to learn.
But what I have already experienced was enough for me to become deeply attached to this place.
Maybe that is also why I write about Saudi Arabia so much.
Under some of my recent posts I’ve seen comments asking how much I was paid to write them. I usually smile when I read that. Because sometimes a place simply becomes dear to you. You miss it, you want to return, you want to understand it better, and you want to talk to people who love it too.
I don’t really know how to put a price on that.
So today I simply want to wish Saudi Arabia and its people peace, safety and prosperity.
I hope the coming year brings good things to people and their families. I hope there are more reasons to feel hopeful about the future, more things to build and create, and more peaceful days ahead for the whole region.
This has not been an easy year for the region, and I very much hope Saudi Arabia will continue to use its voice and its influence in support of peace.
And to everyone who has welcomed me, helped me, checked whether I was safe, explained something to me, or simply made me feel comfortable in a country that was not yet my home - thank you.
I remember these things.
Happy Saudi National Day. 🇸🇦💚

And to the author of the post I’m quoting: I hope you won’t mind me sharing it today. I understand how personal these words are. I don’t think I have ever read anything that described so accurately and so deeply the Saudi Arabia I came to love. Thank you for sharing this story.
No ruler is above being advised when he is wrong. Islam commands us to be truthful and just, even towards those we disagree with. Allah says, “Be just; that is nearer to righteousness.” (Qur’an 5:8)
But Islam also teaches us how to advise those in authority. The people of knowledge and scholars who have access to MBS advise him directly, face to face, according to the Sunnah.
The Prophet peace be upon him
said regarding advising a ruler, Let him not do so publicly, but let him take him by the hand and be alone with him.” (Musnad Ahmad)
I try my best to live my every day life according to the teachings of islam and not according to my own desires or react base on my emotions.
I don’t need to use my platform to publicly bash any Muslim ruler to prove that I’m free, brave, or capable of telling the truth. There is a difference between sincere advice and publicly attacking, insulting, or stirring people against a Muslim ruler. If something is wrong, it’s wrong, and I have no problem acknowledging that. But I believe advice should be given according to the Islamic methodology, while also acknowledging the good when I see it.
I live in Saudi Arabia. I see the good with my own eyes, and I see the khair of the government firsthand. I don’t need outside media telling me what my reality is when I’m actually living it every day.
That isn’t fear, as I don’t fear no man breathing, This is me trying to follow the Qur’an and teachings of The Prophet Muhammad regardless of what country I’m living in. It’s easy for us to say we are Muslims, while it’s hard for us to abide by the tenants and teaching of Islam. Alhamdulillah Islam is complete with all its teachings and even advising the ruler have a methodology in Islam. This is why it’s very important for us to study and learn so that our actions are based on knowledge and not emotions or driven by politics.
Yahya Sarea, the Houthi spokesman, is threatening Saudi Arabia after what he calls “severe escalation” by the “criminal Saudi enemy.”
The Houthis claim 157 Saudi airstrikes hit four Yemeni districts, alongside rocket launches, and Sarea warns that this “will not go unanswered.”
But let’s be clear about what is happening here.
Saudi Arabia is not attacking the world’s shipping lanes. The Houthis are!
Saudi Arabia is not turning Bab al-Mandab into a missile launchpad. The Houthis are!
Saudi Arabia is not threatening regional and international security from Yemen. The Houthis are!
And when an Iranian-backed militia attacks Saudi Arabia, threatens global shipping and then promises retaliation when its military infrastructure is hit, the international community should understand the problem for what it is.
The Houthis cannot demand immunity from consequences while holding Yemen, Saudi Arabia, the Red Sea and global commerce hostage.
The world has a responsibility to defend freedom of navigation and Saudi Arabia’s right to defend itself!
The question is no longer whether the Houthis will escalate.
It is how long the world will allow them to.
Alhamdulillah for Allah’s guidance to Islam. I thank Allah that He guided me to recognize that the Qur’an and Sunnah, understood upon the way of the first generations of Islam, is the correct and pure path.
As the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The best of people are my generation, then those who come after them, then those who come after them.” (Sahih al-Bukhari 2652; Sahih Muslim 2533)
I thank Allah for this guidance in a time of so much confusion, when many Muslims are allowing the news, politics, and whoever happens to be fighting their perceived enemies to shape their understanding of the religion. Alhamdulillah, I don’t determine the truth based on political movements, personalities, or whatever is trending in the media. I return to the Qur’an and the Sunnah and may Allah pardon my shortcomings and grant me firmness.
We have seen people attack our scholars and people of knowledge, calling them wahabis, Madkhalis and other names. But as we know, name calling is not a refutation.
Alhamdulillah, when they cannot refute the people of knowledge with knowledge, they resort to labels and name calling instead. Knowledge is answered with knowledge, evidence with evidence not insults and labels.
I thank Allah for guiding me toward understanding the religion of Islam. As the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever Allah intends good for, He gives him understanding of the religion.” (Sahih al-Bukhari 71; Sahih Muslim 1037)
May Allah guide me and every Muslim to the truth, keep us grounded and firm upon it, increase us in beneficial knowledge, protect us from being led by our desires or political loyalties, and forgive us for our shortcomings and May Allah grant us all a good ending.
