It's getting a bit weird how much criticism there is of Serena on here.
She played her first singles match in 4 years, loses in a tight three setter, and unfortunately injured herself. Not the way she wanted it to go, I'm sure, but it's hardly a reflection on her or on Wimbledon for giving her (a 23 time greatest of all time grand slam winner) a wildcard. 🤷♂️
@Frauderer_@Deep_Take001 yeah i think he played spinnier fhs, but he was also hitting fh winners pretty confidently throughout the clay masters run. if he could hit fh winners on clay, i don’t see why he would struggle on grass bc his takeback isn’t big. think he’s just rusty, needs to build confidence.
@Frauderer_@Deep_Take001 also his forehand quality was often 9+ from monte carlo to rome and was the main weapon in matches his serve was underperforming

You can’t script this 🤯
so yeah scheduling at times that also work for utc/+1/2/3 would be the most sensible thing to do to capitalise on european and african viewership, in addition to north and south american
pure common sense would dictate that world cup scheduling should endeavor to accommodate the host nation and the widest range of timezones with countries with football as their main sport. that’s how you maximise viewership.
5pm UK time is 9am in California
I can't imagine the kind of hissy fit they'd throw if you tried to kick off a Premier League match at 9am
As an American I really don't get to say this often so thank you for the opportunity: The world doesn't revolve around you
Serena Williams showing off great skills at the net.
It’s been more than 4 years since she’s played a match, but it’s like she never left.
Some things don’t change.
😮💨😮💨😮💨
the only time id think of someone as “deserving” a slam is if they were a set away from victory in a slam final and lost due to illness or injury. other than that there’s no such thing as “deserve”, you either go and get it or you don’t.
will never understand the “he deserves a slam” argument 😭 on what basis exactly? he couldn’t beat carlos in the australian open semifinal when carlos was barely able to move. every time he runs into the top players in the biggest moments, he falls short

it's a cute but so far pretty incidental detail to the main story so- the lawyer's name is lemuel and they're not just fucking, they're lowk dating. louis' phone background is a photo of them together. i been calling em "loumuel" as a pair
ironically if you're the type of fan who villainizes black characters for the same traits you find sympathetic or permissible in white characters, you're proving part of jacob's point- you can't handle that complexity or even evil from a character of color without flattening them
jacob's been speaking on this for years and racist fans always try appropriating his words. he's talking about how characters of color rarely get to be as messy as white characters do, not "and that's why it's ok to treat bipoc as inherently worse than their white counterparts"
this implicitly assumes that all revenue that doesn’t go to prize money goes to federations, which is simply untrue. slams make a ton of profit, so an increase in prize money should not come out of the federation contribution budget.
I get you, but the solution is exactly the opposite to what you propose. Every additional penny from GS revenue that goes to prize money, is one fewer penny for federations to fund ITF, Challenger, WTA 125 events, which are the tournaments people like Chwalińska make a life off.
