Flag Day in the USA is an annual observance celebrated on June 14
to commemorate the adoption of the American flag. On this day in 1777, the Second Continental
Congress passed a resolution establishing the first official design of the U.S. flag, which featured 13 stripes and 13 stars.
June 14 also marks the official birthday of the United States Army, which was authorized by Congress in 1775.
Citizens and local businesses are encouraged to proudly display the Stars and Stripes outside their homes.

People often mark this by gathering for barbecues, going to the beach, or taking advantage of retail sales. However, the core purpose of the holiday remains rooted in quiet reverence and gratitude for the lives lost in defense of the nation.
