This is just one scene out of many in Greenfield, Iowa. Numerous emergency services have arrived. We are going block by block to ensure everyone is out of their residence. #iawx@NWSDesMoines
UPGRADE TO MODERATE RISK for gorilla hail across much of central and northern Oklahoma including OKC and Tulsa. There is also a threat of a strong #tornado or two with this southern mode. A threat of tornadoes still includes much of MO into IL
(2/4) Several tornado reports near Durand, IL on the late afternoon of March 4th are believed to have been associated with areas of swirling dust, commonly known as “gustnadoes”. #ILwx#INwx
My thoughts:
Many people have a legitimate “it never does anything” mindset with severe weather. This is detrimental to the entire warning process.
Often times when people take action, it is too late. Some social studies I’ve done reflect some have false theories that they’ve been told.
“There’s too many mountains nearby, tornadoes won’t impact me”
“We live near a river, so we’re safe here”
“The ridge up the road forces tornadoes to go north, we’re good”.
All completely asinine things, but deadly mentalities in the wrong situations.
We depleted a lot of our resources in Perryton. I have no doubt the Y'all Squad will come together for another injection of positivity in these incredibly unfortunate towns.
Our team is getting ready to head to Matador, TX right now. Help us show up by going to https://t.co/xxhoyYO0kR and contributing to our official 501c(3) nonprofit organization.
