BREAKING: TRUTH TO POWER! Dana Bash stands her ground as RFK Jr. pushes crackpot anti-vax theories on live TV!

CNN's Dana Bash mixed it up with Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on her show last night as she pushed back on his repeated claims linking vaccines and autism.

Instead of answering her questions, Kennedy tried to bully the veteran journalist into backing down.

"You probably don't understand this because you're not a scientist," Kennedy scoffed after Bash asked whether his department was studying environmental factors that could contribute to autism.

“You’re not either,” Bash shot back.

As Kennedy attempted to talk over her, Bash managed to point out that the National Academy of Sciences and countless researchers have repeatedly found no link between vaccines and autism, Kennedy brushed her aside.

"You've been fooled," he insisted, but Bash didn't budge.

Delivering her signature look of wide-eyed incredulity, she reminded Kennedy that his public statements carry enormous weight because they encourage vaccine hesitancy at a time when preventable diseases are making a dangerous comeback.

Kennedy blithely dismissed decades of scientific research, claiming Bash was "repeating it like a parrot" and accusing her of blindly trusting experts and patronizingly observed “You’re getting frustrated, Dana.”

"The reason I'm frustrated is because you are the HHS secretary," Bash fired back. "You are talking about things that lead to vaccine hesitancy in this country."

But rather than address these valid concerns, Kennedy veered into familiar attacks on Anthony Fauci, COVID restrictions and the scientific establishment.

But Bash kept bringing him back to the same issue: why was the nation's top public health official continuing to cast doubt on one of the most extensively studied subjects in modern medicine?

Americans hired a health secretary, not a talk radio provocateur. As such, he is obliged to answer legitimate questions with evidence comes with the job, not sneer at a journalist doing her job while recycling anti-vaccine theories does not.

Kudos to Dana Bash for speaking truth to power. She asked tough questions, refused to be intimidated and kept pressing for answers after Kennedy tried to turn the interview into a lecture about everyone else's ignorance.

At a moment when public confidence in medicine has already been battered by years of conspiracy theories and political misinformation, that wasn't just good television.

It was good journalism, which this country desperately needs right now.
