Knowing where to improve helps you learn the right things to progress.

Learning provides clarity on actions to take.

Purposeful actions lead to definite growth.

I don’t agree completely. I think it shows we didn’t plan well. We didn’t make small, meaningful progress every week resulting in a week where “suddenly” everything is important.

Happy Friday! One more week full of small wins moving towards the goal. However small the progress, learn to appreciate and keep moving forward.

If you aren’t learning something new or contributing information in a meeting, hit “leave” and focus on your priorities for the day. Meetings are part of your workday. Why waste?

Many times it’s not clear what “data driven decisions” mean in companies. There is DATA. Teams are DRIVEN to land impact. DECISIONS are made. But not all 3 go hand in hand always. Data comes in as a “support” system than a decision system. As long as things work eh?!

Make sure to communicate as you hit each milestone. Over communication is never wasteful. But beware of over communicating every problem you face. It can induce unnecessary panic. Control the narrative. Each step toward goal is success. Embrace it. Move ahead!

Stakeholders are happy to listen to your plans as long as they know what they get & when. Delivering that clarity is important.
Plan with the end in mind along with expected obstacles. This helps others understand timelines better. Planning threats to your deadline shows mastery.

Make personal vs stakeholder execution plans. How you build the solution on a daily basis is important only to you. Others can’t understand those details. Having milestones and aligning your daily execution with that helps manage everyone’s expectations.

@zachly Thanks for sharing. Agree. I see Scala as a good tool to have. Though 95-98% of DE jobs can be done without knowing scala it’s always that extra perspective that one can provide. But if it’s not used in your job then you have to make effort to keep yourself updated.
