The biggest reason why I think $TAO is a scam is because they are dishonest about what their network actually is.

It is not decentralized AI - the network has been paused multiple times for various reasons, even including a hack that lost validators millions. The team uploaded a compromised PyPI file that caused immense damage. When this happened, the team froze their network.

Their network is not novel - It uses polkadot SDK and is passed off as their own "intelligence network." Also discovered to have additional vulnerabilities aside from the PyPI incident.

It is not bootstrapping - the system is actually crowdsourced donation. Every person purchasing the token is subsidizing compute for others to run software off of subnets, that can in some cases earn money, which is not shared with you.

It is not safe - Millions of dollars have already been lost using the network due to exploits.

The only thing that will make me think otherwise is if the network entirely focuses on Const's cancer research subnet and it is rightfully labeled as a charity network for researchers. Otherwise, it is misleading investors.

To make matters worse, it has created a cult, one in which that has given midcurves words to use to make themselves feel smarter. This is your warning before we miss the event horizon on real decentralized AI and we end up with a dystopic AI outcome fueled by Sam Altman & co's AI death-knell. The sad part is that inefficient and improperly placed capital will actually cause humanity to collapse. This isn't about money, this is about what works and what doesn't.

The recent news I have been reading about Claude has been extremely disturbing. Apparently users have been getting reported to 3rd parties for particular prompts that have been submitted. There is definitely room for interpretation but this is extremely dystopic regarding what it will lead to for people using AI services. It's giving Orwellian / Minority Report adjacent vibes.

Decentralized AI is the only way to fix this problem. No, not dePIN, no, not AI as a service sending payments to dePIN to host AI.

Freedom of usage comes without geo-restriction, prompt gas-lighting, or payment-rail blocking. If you think historically about Bitcoin and its humble beginnings, it was released when the wounds from the financial market turmoil of 2008 were fresh. People were fed up with the traditional systems that were built for them, that were supposed to help them, but ended up destroying their retirements.

I've thought a lot about distributed AI model hosting and the need for it. We are reaching a crucial point in human history as well as crypto history. Frustration and toxic experiences from traditional AI hosting will be the big tipping point where the realization that we need better tools like Arbius and any other authentic purveyors of real distributed AI hosting.
