The federal government’s so-called “voluntary” firearms confiscation scheme for retailers is set to re-open on April 23. Despite the language, there’s nothing voluntary about it—retailers are being warned that if they don’t comply and surrender their inventory of now-prohibited firearms by the end of the amnesty period on October 30, 2026, they could face criminal charges and the threat of jail time.
This is not public safety—this is coercion. Law-abiding business owners are being forced to choose between losing their property and risking prosecution for simply possessing firearms they acquired legally and operated responsibly. This heavy-handed approach does nothing to address crime and only punishes responsible Canadians.
The Canadian Shooting Sports Association stands firmly against policies that threaten livelihoods, undermine trust, and target the wrong people. We support real, evidence-based solutions to public safety—not government confiscation dressed up as choice.

@JohnnyFSE That’s pretty nice work, public servants and politicians must always be held accountable for their actions. Appraisal is also important when they cause disruptions resulting in evolution and great benefits to the majority public - but for now we must WATCH them closely. Congrats
The Canadian Shooting Sports Association (CSSA) would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone working tirelessly behind the scenes to make this event happen. We know how much time and effort goes into organizing something like this, and we truly appreciate it.
We’re happy to announce that CSSA representatives will be on-site, standing shoulder to shoulder with the incredible firearms community. If you’re a CSSA member—or a responsible firearms owner who cares about your rights—this is your chance to show up, be counted, and make your voice heard.
There’s never been a more important time for us to come together. Your presence matters. Every person who attends sends a message: we stand united, and we’re not backing down.
Bring your friends, bring your family, and let’s show the world the strength and passion of our community. If you can make it out, we want to see you there.
HOLD THE LINE!

Ottawa’s gun confiscation pilot in Cape Breton fell flat—just 25 guns seized out of 200 targeted, costing taxpayers over $7,000 per firearm. Even worse, the federal government refuses to reveal key details like makes, models, or compensation for each gun. Are these “weapons of war,” or old hunting rifles? Canadians have no idea, as info requests were met with nearly blacked-out documents.
With over $742 million committed to this program nationally, transparency is non-negotiable. Police leaders and multiple provinces say it won’t make Canadians safer, and several have refused to participate.
Canadians deserve to know how public money is spent and what’s being confiscated. Read more from Gage Haubrich & Devin Drover at the Canadian Taxpayers Federation via the Toronto Sun.

@WIRED@analogue Unfortunately @analogue don’t have a proper communication and engagement with their customers. The restock was ridiculous - they definitely don’t prioritize their customers - I’m registered for availability notifications and guess what? I didn’t receive anything.
