ICYMI: WA Democrats REJECTED their "millionaire tax" only being for millionaires by shooting down Amendment 696 on SB 6346 in the WA Senate, along with many other Amendments in the WA House ensuring the same thing.

There it is... as we have been arguing, this tax will be a on everyone, as early as next year.

Washington State's Supreme Court has violated our trust. Rather than a court composed of judges elected by the people, judgeships are instead give to political allies and personal friends.

And when the Governor gets to appoint his friends to our State's highest court, is it any surprise that so many recent Washington State Supreme Court decisions seem to break towards the government, not the people?

• Income Tax / Millionaire's Tax (2026): REFUSED to permit a PEOPLE'S referendum on the "Millionaires' Tax".
• The Blake Decision (2021): Put CRIMINALS Back on the Streets.
• Garfield vs State (2020): Threw out a VOTER approved initiative to lower Vehicle Fees.
• Capital Gains Tax (2023): First step in overriding Washington's constitutional ban on Income Taxes.
• Spokane Prop 1 (2023): Threw out a VOTER approved initiative to keep drug dealing and homeless encampments 1000 feet from schools.

Fortunately, the law is still the law and Washignton State residents do have the ultimate power to select our Supreme Court judges - if we chose to select someone who was not appointed by the Governor.

This August 4th is the election! Do not be fooled because it's a 'primary' - there are real issues and real challenges that can be fixed in this primary election, but YOU need to vote.

These are the Washington Supreme Court candidates that will provide unbiased legal decisions that protect our rights in Washington State and not the political powerful's special interests.

Do not be fooled...several of the incumbents are far left marxist-aligned activists with a LOT of millionaire funding from California and Seattle. They have tons of cash and will get votes from the crazy left. That's why it's so important for your voice to be heard.

You have no idea the calls and complaints I get about family law — and the comments about problems in family court have only gotten worse. Families are being torn apart. Domestic violence remains prevalent. There's a shortage of foster parents, siblings are being separated, and DSHS is currently paying out a record number of lawsuits.

When these cases eventually reach the Supreme Court, Commissioner Christensen Colberg brings the experience needed to our state's highest court: 12 years of family law practice and 18 years of family law on the bench as a Commissioner pro tem. She's smart, experienced, incredibly personable, and the timing of her candidacy lines up directly with what Washington families need right now.

⛔ Colleen Melody is a lock to advance through the Primary given her substantial Democratic endorsements. She's been a public servant her entire career, has worked to enforce civil rights, is very smart--and in my opinion--was one of the two candidates to win the first Judicial Forum on 4/28. But there are two reasons I can't vote for her.

First, her judicial philosophy is "purposivism" — I had to look it up. It leans toward an activist-adjacent approach that interprets a law based on its underlying purpose, which leaves the meaning open to the reader's own interpretation. My philosophy is the opposite: apply the law as written. No need to guess why specific words were chosen. Philosophies like purposivism allow for interpretation so broad that it can end up changing the meaning of the original text.

Second, then-AG Bob Ferguson hired Melody to establish the Civil Rights Division, and she served as his Division Chief for over a decade. For a position that high-ranking, I'd speculate Ferguson wouldn't have hired — let alone promoted — someone without a near-identical political ideology. Ultimately, I think it would be difficult for Melody to be Independent when hearing cases involving the Executive Branch, and so for those reasons, I'm out.

⛔ Scott Edwards is a litigator and an appellate attorney who brings a wealth of experience, and who also taught tax law at the University of Washington. Scott is definitely qualified, however he seems like a very vanilla alternative to the status quo. I also think Edwards has zero chance at defeating Colleen Melody head-to-head in the general--like I said, Melody won the first forum--Scott was not in the top 50%, so I'm out.
