The UK needs a Special Representative for Climate Change and Biodiversity - we have added our name to the list of organisations calling for an integrated approach to both the #ClimateCrisis and #biodiversity loss.
I think this is one key point
Anaesthesia Associates currently provide <2% of anaesthesia activity and <0.2% of anaesthesia activity as a main provider
If (with the long term staffing plan) this is expanded 15- to 20-fold (raising numbers from 150 to 2000) the will have a massive impact on overall provision
Involvement in 30% of care
What will this mean for
Trainees’
-access to training
Consultants
-as supervisors
-as clinical providers themselves
-in terms of medicolegal risk
As the model is that AAs care for lower risk patients having low risk surgery will this be practical as patients have become
-older
-more obese
-more comorbid (>30% ASA 3-5)
-frailer
Will it be possible to find suitable patients/lists?
If not what are the implications for
-safety?
-efficiency ?
-cost effectiveness?
The @RCoANews survey on AAs already provides are startling insight into many’s current opinions

It looks like Natural England ignored the advice of its own Science Director to go ahead with new badger culls, so as not to upset the farming industry.
So we're starting the process of a legal challenge along with @BadgerTrust

Sympathies to all the decent Icelandic people who are as utterly appalled as the rest of the civilised world that @MFAIceland@PresidentISL have granted another licence to murder whales . Beyond words . https://t.co/SkmGGtx00e
Tens of thousands of women and nonbinary people in Iceland are expected to participate in a one-day strike on Tuesday to protest workplace inequality. It would be the largest walkout by women in the Nordic nation since 1975. https://t.co/EGFMEASgVW
BREAKING: We are horrified by the recent bombing of Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City, which was treating patients and hosting displaced Gazans.
Hundreds of people have reportedly been killed.
This is a massacre. It is absolutely unacceptable.
We are shocked and desperately saddened to learn that the famous Sycamore Gap tree at Hadrian's Wall has been felled overnight, in what appears to be an act of vandalism.
We know just how much this iconic tree is loved locally, nationally and by everyone who has visited.
We are working with our partners to understand what has happened and what can be done.
The incident has also been reported to the police.
An update... yesterday these brave women were arrested and sadly the whaling vessels left the harbour to go out and hunt dozens of fin whales. It's so shameful that this continues in 2023.... @MFAIceland#stopwhaling@MC_org
Where’s this in the news?! Two women have chained themselves to the whaling boats in Reykjavík Harbour after Iceland lifted the whaling ban, approving more killing of fin whales 😟 Whaling must remain a bad stain of the past…. Not part of our present/future #stopwhaling #boycotticeland
