I think that the reason behind many peoples votes is religion but this happens subconsiously. I feel like we fail to realize how much influence our religious background has in our morals and stances on certain policies but these groups are definitely refelcted in polls.

I really enjoyed how engaing this course was not only with the meme’s and jokes but also the documentaries. I think hearing from those who actually beleive in these relgions or experienced these movements give the content more authenticity. #rel2121s18

@FsuJzs15 I completely agree. This book was so intresting I wish we could have had class discussions about the individual topics and chapters and just all of the things that occur behind the scenes on the governments hidden agenda.

@FsuJzs15 This was one of my favorite aspect of the course because of the clash it caused between families and generations. It’s intresting that ideas that would be considered more common today were radical in those times.

@AllieM706 I had never thought about this but it is very accurate. I wondered the motives behind the reason certain indivuals in our history acted the way they did. Being aware of the context and the relgious movements/ their affiliation would have been beneficial in U.S history class.

@SamanthaStofsky I agree. I’m not sure that they were particulary a fan of the candidate but I do see why he is a better fit than Hilary would have been. I guess evangelicals saw him as an individual who was trying to find his faith and renew himself.

@Bcb16b This reminds me of indulgences within the catholic church. I feel like the idea of having to pay an organization to secure a spot in heaven is so contridictory to what the institution is supposed to stand for.

Although I enjoyed this course, I wouldve liked it if the reading quizzes were diffrent. I think they should have all been at the end of class and reflective of the lecture as opposed to the textbook. I say this because I feel as if the midterm and class discussions align more

it is just more implicit as opposed to explicit. Unfortuntly though not as obvious anymore, institutional prejudice is still very prevelant.

This course and the fbi and religion really changed the way I look at the government when it comes to religion and prejudiced groups. Although we have made progress in past decades/ centuries, I believe that individuals still have prejudice against certain groups #rel2121s18

@TreysternREL I agree, this isn’t the first thing I do when I make a mistake either; but it’s intresting because repenting is such a large aspect of religion and it’s ironic that trump was claiming to be so close to the church yet seemed to have trouble admiting his mistakes.

It’s intresting how the U.S could even attempt to claim separation of church and state with the 10 commandments engraved on a state judicial building

@matthew_hader I find it hard to beleive that one could have a change of heart so many times especially when it comes to contradicting and opposing views.

I think the way deproggaming was done is extreamly ironic. Although I understand why the families were upset. Putting their children through this just seems like a diffrent mean of doing what they claimed the cults did: brainwashing and controlling. #REL2121S18

@lat16b I agree, this is a complete understatement. It is somewhat alliviating to know that after all of that some africans still had some dancing, healing, and spiritual traditions.
