“Imagine if from now on murdered rape victims could never be named in public, and women such as Jill Meagher could only ever be referred to as “Adrian Bayley’s victim”?”
This is an awful thought. From @ninafunnell on Victoria’s proposed gag-law

On the backdrop of BLM protest the Australian Government has given themselves until 2093 to stop the overrepresentation of First Nations people in the justice system.
Yes. 2093.
On Friday the govt announced its plan to radically change uni fees, and the headlines rightfully focussed on those 110% hikes to humanities degrees.
But now the full plan is out and the real story is clear: this is a massive defunding of tertiary education. THREAD.

@snappyalligator So sorry to hear this Bianca. Fur babies are so special and give us so much, it’s heartbreaking when they aren’t well. I really hope you get more time with her and that she’s comfortable.
"You are not working from home; you are at your home during a crisis trying to work."
I've heard this twice today. I think it's an important distinction worth emphasising.
Horrific & yet the perp is eulogized in the media. It’s not relevant about his experience in the fitness industry. No-one cares about that. What about Hannah & the beautiful children? What about a CV about their lives? #HerNameWasHannahBaxter#MaleViolence https://t.co/3GN1whUAiB

The lives they might have led. The children they never had, the jobs they never worked, the books they never read or wrote, the sunrises they never saw. The families they never saw again. So much theft. RT

Friendly (but critical) conference reminder: ALWAYS use the microphone. It's an accessibility issue. Don't ask the audience if it's OK not to - that requires people with disabilities to publically self-identify when they may not wish to. Let's stop seeing inclusion as optional.
