Please set the refugee cap to 50k or higher. We are called to love our neighbor, including our national neighbors. Many are fleeing religious persecution, and their should be an option for them to seek safety. @JohnCornyn @tedcruz

As Ambassador Nina Hachigian, the first U.S. Special Representative for City and State Diplomacy, writes, “U.S. cities remain a voice for the country’s values as federal leadership wavers."

"City council members share constituents with their congressional delegation. Their obligation, at the very least, is to resist Islamophobia, anti-Arab sentiment and antisemitism within their districts." @ImanforColorado

A few highlights from this op-ed.

Op-ed: As major U.S. cities, including San Francisco and Chicago, pass ceasefire resolutions, a Palestinian American elected official says they aren’t just symbolic.

Municipalities have been "setting precedents for passing resolutions soliciting intern'l investments, bidding to host global sporting events, collaborating to tackle global social issues, including climate change, broaching human rights concerns with foreign leaders, and more."

[Lauren Vela Sage @laurenvsage]

"...these issues affect their constituents. The increase in Islamophobia, anti-Arab discrimination, and antisemitism in the districts they represent as a direct result of Israel’s war on Gaza should impact their decision to take a stance and support a permanent ceasefire."

RIP this building.

[Sarah Duran @_SarahDuran]

I covered a fire this morning where crews had to demo the building involved.

At one point, an excavator from the side pulled the front end of the store down but my photographer thought the camera wasn’t rolling.

Turns out it was.

Agreed! There is nowhere I can go let my 2-year-old run around, while I sip a decent pastry or tea. In my privilege, I often do not think about the single parent. Let's have places and systems that make caring for children on your own EXPECTED and manageable.
Let's build for all.

@stevemouzon I've never considered flags as part of the streetscape. They definitely are if there is a zero lot line.

[Lauren Vela Sage @laurenvsage]

@stevemouzon Thanks for this series, @stevemouzon. Are all of these photos yours? I love them. They capture your points perfectly.
