Some news: I recently defended my dissertation (accessible at https://t.co/K7jCTrlA33) and joined @AzzurraRuggeri's group in Munich as a postdoc! Looking forward to new adventures ahead :)
ONE DAY LEFT to SUBMIT to our fantastic Spring conference with a thrilling lineup of invited speakers exploring the fascinating connections between memory, space, and language. Submit now!
Our paper on infants' representation of third-party helping interactions is now published (OA) at @AnnualReviews of Developmental Psychology! https://t.co/WgO2D2goG0
New preprint! How do babies represent scenarios like the one below? If they think the 🐶 is helping the 🦁, what does that mean? Here we argue (w/ @Denis_Tatone & @GCsibra) that this q has been neglected by the research on infants' reasoning about helping. https://t.co/N2OHm7aWAW
My paper, "Metarepresenting in communication", is published in Synthese. From the abstract:
...current evidence for the developmental trajectory of communication and mental state attribution does not support the emergence of the former from the latter./

We are pleased to announce the 15th Dubrovnik Conference on Cognitive Science, devoted to the topic of 'Memory, space, and language', taking place between 23 and 26 May 2024, in Dubrovnik, Croatia. (https://t.co/bWOkxIloog)
@tracy_viljoen huh then there must be some bug, because the rebooking option is not available for us :( anyway, thanks, and glad it worked out for you!
🚨 In this preprint from my PhD thesis I argue that the phylo- & ontogenetic emergence of communication does necessitate metarepresentations, but not of mental states as Griceans suggest, rather of external representations. 🧵

@AshleyJ_Thomas i had a similar experience while pregnant - i thought about how everyone i met had been born, everyone's (birth) mother had gone through this ordeal of pregnancy, everyone had someone who invested all this effort to care for them and keep them alive. it's wild!
Excited to share a new project from the SoCal Lab! We’re calling it our Open File Drawer:

Tl;dr: We’re posting short reports, w/ open materials & data, about the finished projects we don’t intend to publish. Read on for an explanation and a question. 1/n
new pre-print entitled

see another paper related to my PhD studies, in which we consider with Ildikó Király how pretending may figure into children's developing abilities to both create and join social contexts with others https://t.co/Uwj49WTcDd
I invite applications for a 3-year postdoctoral position, on a project titled “The role of infants’ emerging self-perspective in memory development”, at @DEVOMINDLab @CopenhagenPsych

The paper summarizes some of the conversations we've been having over the last years about how understanding helping is trickier than one might intuitively assume, trying to frame this rich & influential body of research, but mostly pointing out some big question marks.
