Health librarian @ West Suffolk Foundation Trust. Pronouns she/her. Enthusiastic allotment holder and proud trade unionist. Loves wildlife and camping.
@LibraryKirsten Excuse my ignorance…what is the Library Social Discord? If it’s an alternative to Musk’s Twitter and for library folk, I’d be interested
@KateBurkeNHS It definitely is after you’ve just given birth and, at the age of 28, after my first child was born, they offered me toast and a cup of tea (which I previously despised) and started a life-long love affair with tea….although it’s decaf, these days
Is anyone else feeling uncomfortable about the new owner of Twitter? I’m going to sit with this for a bit but it seems likely I will be saying goodbye to Twitter. My timeline is generally positive, but I know there is some vile stuff on here that I want no part of.
A great video from @UNISONEastern. Wonderful to see solidarity from across the union movement - thanks @RMTunion's Mick Lynch for standing with NHS staff!
NHS industrial action ballots in were posted out yesterday - remember to vote early and vote YES!
#VoteYesfortheNHS !
Rishi Sunak - Have they looked after you?
Hospital patient - They always do, but it's a pity you don't pay them more
Rishi Sunak - We're trying
Patient - No, you're not trying, you need to try harder
This one of the best threads I’ve read in a long time. Anyone working in healthcare in whatever role should read it and, aside from the topic discussed, one line struck me so forcibly - we work in a system that does not allow us to be our best. Made me stop and think
@DeakinSue1@alisonleary1@RCNScot AFC is not the problem, it’s the interpretation put on it by employers trying to squeeze as much out of the workforce as possible, not because they are mean (although some are) but because of the top down pressure from govt to put right years of under-investment by….this govt 😡
@DeakinSue1 That’s dreadful, like something from the 1950s and if somebody is sleeping on shift (not on a break) it’s an individual matter not something with which to ‘punish’ everybody
Ho hum, can’t get connected on my work laptop to emails and internet, time to update the old library action plan and other 365 tasks, methinks. Perhaps the universe is telling me to have a damn good rest today…..
@AudreySuffolk I’ve been doing Slimming World for a while, lost 2 stone, and apart from bread you can eat as many carbs as you like. You can still eat bread but in small amounts. I never feel hungry, maybe have a look at it online?
@pipdivall A lovely GP once told me that anything that touches the cervix when you’re not actually in Labour can cause deep feelings of vulnerability and distress. I always felt shaky after having coils fitted/changed so do curl up with a hot water bottle and some chocolate & take care
It’s finally done! A massive thanks to colleagues from Estates and Portering who helped us transform this space and create a well-being area for our colleagues @WestSuffolkNHS@wshlibrary
