As my time in office comes to a close, I want to thank Idahoans for the opportunity to serve as your attorney general the last 20 years. I leave the office proud of the work my team and I accomplished and of our commitment to the Rule of Law. Onward.
Tax Scam: A resident has received a phony tax bill from Blaine County, Idaho. Can you guess why this isn't real?
Hints: We do not have a Seizure Unit B, a Resolution Officer Gamble, or an 800 #. If you have any questions, contact our Civil Office at (208)788-5563.
Congratulations to Scott Graf! Scott has been the bridge between my office, journalists and PIOs in agencies in Idaho and across the nation. He's professional, thoughtful and highly skilled. I have relied on his counsel many times. I know he will do great things in his new role!
“My goal is to be able to serve on day one, and filling key positions is a reflection of this priority," the state superintendent-elect said in a news release Monday. #idedu

Thank you, Colonel. It was an honor and a privilege to be able to address such a brave and selfless group. Congratulations to you and each of your new graduates.
I was honored to swear in ATC #53 today. These new troopers will continue our proud tradition of excellence and service to the community. A special thanks to Idaho AG Lawrence Wasden for speaking – A true friend and supporter of law enforcement. @lawrencewasden
Scam Alert: Caldwell Police report someone calling citizens to fundraise on their behalf. Caldwell PD is not currently fundraising.

December is Impaired Driving Awareness Month and I’ve teamed up with @goFAAR to help remind Idahoans to be safe on the roads this holiday season. Never ever drive drunk or impaired. It’s an important message about #responsibility. https://t.co/23q1KauRrq
Congratulations, Betsy. You’ve set a high bar for Idaho political reporting. Both the quality and volume of your work will be missed. I also want to thank you for your partnership over the years on our open government trainings. May the slopes treat you well!
The mailer is similar to one that surfaced in January, which was supposedly from the State of Idaho. The new one is made to look like it's from Ada County. It is fake. My advice if you get one in the mail? Toss it.
Let’s commit to safety and responsibility as the holidays approach. Never serve, supply, or sell alcohol to anyone under the legal drinking age. It’s illegal, unsafe and irresponsible. #WDST More: https://t.co/lXcKNLmyaO
Anytime you pick up the phone and you're being threatened or told to act very quickly, it's likely a scam. Hang up. Even better - don't answer if it's a number you don't recognize. Legitimate callers will leave a voicemail and you can call them back.
There's a system in place in the U.S. to deal with those who break the law. It does *not* include police calling to threaten arrest unless they're paid with gift cards. It sounds absurd, but this scam can work. Please mention to anyone you know who might risk falling victim.
This scam - and others similar to it - works because of its threatening nature. When we pick up the phone and the person on the other end is threatening our arrest, it creates duress. When we're under duress, we do things we otherwise wouldn't.
