@Tycale @thesupermanmx As usual, extremely specialized and marginal work is being wildly misrepresented. In general, if you want a high performance kernel it needs to be written in assembly. This is nice for pytorch users, assuming they are able to set it up, but otherwise irrelevant.

@shuizhuyu @thesupermanmx The only thing that it's going to affect is pytorch kernels which you would know if you had looked at the paper. Most academics don't ever bother releasing their work in a form where it can be used with reasonable effort. I expect this is having absolutely zero impact.

@Tycale @thesupermanmx CUDA is not easier to use. Nobody was writing these kernels for pytorch programs by hand anyway. Compilers were always using AI in the form of handwritten heuristics and it's hardly surprising that reinforcement learning is better (and tremendously more expensive).
