I don’t want to see any MLK quotes today from Republicans who tried to overturn 2020 election & throw out millions of Black & Brown votes, passed wave of new voter suppression laws to continue insurrection through other means & now blocking critical voting rights legislation
I want everybody to remember that the Supreme Court has said the government doesn't have the authority to make people wear a mask when it later says it *does* have the authority to force women to give birth against their will.
just a reminder that the Supreme Court made everyone involved in hearing the vaccine mandate case take a PCR test in advance, guaranteeing a level of protection that is wildly out of reach for nearly every worker affected by this decision
Jim Jordan refusing to cooperate w/Jan. 6 committee? The same Jim Jordan who insisted in the Benghazi probe on our “basic duty” to “tell the people the truth” and who faulted officials for not moving “heaven and earth to rescue our people”? Perplexing.
Breaking: As Biden speaks NC state court upholds extreme gerrymandered maps, including US House map giving GOP 71-78% of seats in state Trump won with 49.9% of vote. This is exactly the kind of partisan & racial gerrymandering Freedom to Vote Act would block
GOP argument against voting rights bills - “federal takeover of elections” - is same one southern segregationists made against Voting Rights Act of 1965
North Carolina is 40% non-white & 50/50 politically but GOP passed redistricting maps giving white Republicans 71-78% of US House seats
This is what gerrymandering looks like under gutted Voting Rights Act & without federal protection for voting rights https://t.co/KTZE3comeg
Breaking: Senate Republicans block debate on John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. Fails 50-49. This is FOURTH time GOP has blocked vote on voting rights legislation this year
In 2006 Senate reauthorized VRA 98-0. Today only one 1 GOP senator, Lisa Murkowski, voted for it
To my fellow Virginia residents: please vote against the blatant racism, hatred and intolerance of Donald Trump & his follower Glenn Youngkin. Please vote FOR a kind, welcoming, diverse Virginia. Please vote @TerryMcAuliffe for governor. Because #JusticeMatters
I’m with @SpeakerPelosi on this. The Toad and all his Toadies should be prosecuted to the full extent permitted by federal law. See 18 USC secs. 2283 & 2284.

Breaking: Senate Republicans block debate on Freedom to Vote Act
It’s completely undemocratic that 41 GOP senators representing just 21% of country can filibuster legislation supported by 70% of Americans that would expand voting access for tens of millions
If the DOJ doesn’t prosecute Trump, the DOJ is announcing: campaign finance violations to steal an election are legal; bribing/extorting a foreign leader to fabricate dirt on a political opponent is legal; obstructing justice is legal; obstructing Congress is legal; lying to the
Let’s be clear: I don’t want to hear any whining when MoCs and their staff are subpoenaed by the Jan 6 cmte. If people leading the insurrection say they coordinated with MOC’s, all bets are off and “decorum” is irrelevant in the face of the unprecedented nature of the subject.
It’s increasingly apparent that DOJ must initiate an overlapping but separate investigation focusing on Trump’s months-long effort to interfere with the lawful execution of the federal election. Jan 6 is the culmination of it but not the sole focus of it.
There are three overlapping crime sprees: The efforts to undo the Nov 3 , 2020 election results; the efforts to reverse the Dec 14, 2020 electoral college vote; the Jan 6, 2021 insurrection. Trump was at the center of all three.
It's increasingly hard to see how DOJ can sit on this kind of revelation without convening a grand jury to inquire into seditious conspiracy leading to insurrection, letting the chips fall where they may . . .
