this was a day one buy for me until I saw that price now I'll wait a few weeks and get it secondhand, nintendo is out of their mind trying to normalize 80 dollar games
A little disheartening that already the newest game is kinda being treated like it’s above reproach. I get wanting to be positive and wanting to wait till the game comes out to voice criticism, but people should be more than allowed to voice their reservations about said game
Nintendo President Furukawa explained that despite the possibility of leaks (brought up by a shareholder), Nintendo Directs are still very important:
"In the Nintendo Direct streamed on June 9, 2026, we shared information about new titles scheduled for the end of 2026 and for 2027 and beyond, including Nintendo titles. We are grateful for the many positive reactions to the lineup we announced.
Nintendo is constantly investigating ways to provide information directly to consumers (including through Nintendo Today! and other means). Currently, Nintendo Direct is watched by many consumers around the world. While continuing these activities, we will keep exploring what forms of information delivery are appropriate going forward."
