A real journalist would ask the interviewee more in-depth questions, not try to shut them up.

Nothing says he doesn't get a lenient sentence, especially if the jury goes with murder in the third degree. IMHO, it should be first or second degree.

The point is to muddy the waters on pre-meditation. The hole in that argument would be melo would have left and snuck in back if thievery was his goal.
