Every parent who has ever relied on an education worker (ie all of us) knows that a $200 cheque can’t change your life but a properly compensated and productive education worker can change your child’s life forever. #onpoli
CUPE's education workers are asking for a $3.25/hr raise. That would get them back to where their incomes were ten years ago. @Sflecce & @fordnation's offer would result in their incomes being 20% below their 2012 incomes. Which offer is fair?
@osbcucscso
@zbpipe@sselway So sorry for your loss Zoe. Our thoughts are with you, your mom and your family. A conversation with Shawn was always an education and a delight. Brian and I have always kept an eye out for him whenever we walk The North End.
#TurkeyDrive on at Dundurn St. Fortinos too!
Great way to help out a local family this #HolidaySeason and so, so easy. Pick out your turkey(s), pay at the checkout and smiling volunteers do the rest.
Don't miss the #TurkeyDrive this weekend at Fortinos (Main West, Centennial Pkwy and Wilson St in Ancaster). Your donation helps a family in need this Xmas. Don't miss the OPP/EMS drive at participating Fortinos around #HamOnt as well! Giant turkey spotted at Main West)
Please indulge me for a rare (but brief) thread of personal comments.
I was on a city bus in Copenhagen early this morning. A young man clearly suffering from mental illness was screaming angrily. Not an unusual occurrence on urban transport. Passengers ignored him. 1/
In 20 weeks of strike @yorkuniversity has only showed up to the bargaining table with @cupe3903comms TWICE.
But Doug Ford wants to violate 3903 members' Charter right to collective bargaining & do nothing to get York U to negotiate... // RT
it's gonna be so freakin hot the next couple of days, and sometimes life can be hectic. If you're transporting a small child or pet, put literally all your belongings in the back seat so you don't make the most tragic mistake of your life.
Today, I did a thing. It wasn't a big thing, but it was a human-decency thing that I think happens far too scarcely. I had a patron come in with her deaf adult child, and she tells me that her son needs to get a library card, she will be interpreting (signing) for him. (1)
