fair point. i just think the societal consequences of allowing any non biological forms to be considered conscious can be very damaging. If humans get han rights do superhumans (or superintelligent ais) get superhuman rights? We can look at how we've treated animals, which are conscious and accordingly granted rights and yet due to their intellect and innate abilities, we rationalize not giving them as much respect.
