My military unit (which is a training unit) prints all of the assessment papers for the thousands of students passing through each year. The students fill them out and the unit then scans the papers into a pdf format... then shreds the paper.
To change this is too hard! ๐ค
Turns out I was wrong to be sceptical and we still have a long way to go to changing attitudes.
Hope my page can help you with this cause in future (just need a few more ears first)
@DSPG_Southwick@ArmyComdtRMAS@RMASandhurst@Army_Leadership@TedderAcademy@ARITC_ASLS @mil_LEADER I really enjoyed this book. What I learned from it the most wasn't what I had expected. Rather than nuggets of new information, I found that the RMAS basics, and those of soldier ATRs, are exactly the same. One high standard right across the board ๐
@LuciaTurner12 I believe you will find that you already understand and employ everything within that book. It is a good book, no doubt, however, it doesn't give nuggets to trained soldiers. What I learned the most was that Officers at RMAS, and recruit soldiers in ATRs, do it the same way.
Having confidence and being an extrovert are two very different things. Try not to mistake one for the other. People can happily talk in front of groups of people, but still hate social situations.
@Yozz38887229 You raise another issue altogether here. The cost of a soldiers time not being acknowledged. Ordinarily the immediate counter is that "Soldiers are paid 24/7". To arc back to Simon Sinek (my favourite) this is a finite mindset. Not thinking long game. (Morale/retention etc).
Listening to Simon Sinek speak about the practice of introducing 'process' into the work place. He attributes 'lazy leadership' as the reason that we implement across the board processes and practices rather than manage/trust our people individually.

@thepagey @LowEndLeader @TheMaverickSgt @Fromtheranks @ThePlSgt @NotebookEmpty @Average_S0ldier Love the point on confusing activity for success. That is to say, if I interpret your point correctly, that in the example I give, we CREATE work/activity in order to FEEL as though we are successfully achieving an aim.
I offer a very trivial example of course, but you get the point? What other potentially needless processes do we endure for the sake of sake and at the sacrifice of trust?

in the past? Probably, yes. The fallout is that all must lose precious time in the day to another needless process. How about fill out a fault report only when there is a fault to report? How about simply (appropriately) dealing with individuals who get this wrong?
