@Headteacherchat For 10 years I've had: 1. X% of students at ARE/+ in KS2 sats, 2. Attain a 'good' grading from ofsted. Every year. I think this is absurd. It's not helpful to my professional development & doesn't reflect how schools improve (if that's the aim, & in 1 Yr, extremely difficult)

@Headteacherchat It's nice of them to want staff to attend, but it is an invitation & should be positioned as such. If it's required you're getting into directed time and stpcd/HR pay or conduct policies. Sounds like they are trying to make a fun evening for the school community though

Lots of talk about recruitment & retention in teaching. This resonates very strongly. The govt need to recognise that schools and the modern workforce have changed significantly in the past decade

2/2. The answer is not to reduce entry qualifications to teach. The answer is to create a modern, attractive education workplace, which feels compelling for many more graduates. We need more than a reboot. We need a root and branch re-wiring of what schools are. This is urgent.

@mindworkmatters Partly what @MichaelT1979 has said... If I'm out I just need to deal with something after the fact instead of helping at the time. Also most of the work that really needs doing is in person... Meetings, reviews etc.

@Headteacherchat I can recommend 2 excellent ex heads who provide coaching/supervision @HannamJonathan & @JonGibson6 .I'd say go for at least one session per half term to start with.
There's a saying about how you need to put your oxygen mask on first before you help others, & it's true. ☘️

How did week 10 go?
Hopefully came across as positive but definitely not enough praise for others (s47 took over my week).
1 inset down, planning the other this weekend.
Also, had a really insightful supervision session. DSLs & HTs; don't underestimate what this can do for you
