Unregulated scrapyards and auto repair lots are plaguing Detroit residents.

1/ Let's talk about the excellent $27M SAFE ACCESS TO TRANSIT program of 56 projects targeting intersections with transit stops and a history of fatalities/serious injury and bicycle/pedestrian crashes.
So many good nuggets in this piece about Detroit's long history with public transit. 🧵
"Dan Gilbert recently declared that the Detroit area needs a regional rapid transit system. Of course, he is right. It should have been built a century ago." 1/

We are so blinded by car profits in Michigan that we fail to see that the production of cars, driving of cars & building infrastructure for cars are all major factors causing climate change & flooding. Bigger highway pumps are not the answer. More highway lanes aren't helping.

#circulareconomy
The current - linear - economic system is no longer working for businesses, people or the environment: we take resources from the ground to make products, which we use and, when we no longer want them, throw them away. Take-make-waste.
What if we designed a #circulareconomy?
