Imagine if ASD was described like types of cupcake. You have some with icing, some with sprinkles, some chocolate, some vanilla but they’re all cupcakes.
“But how cupcake is it?”
“What?”
“Like it is a little bit cupcake or severely cupcake?”
“It... it doesn’t work like that?”
What I don’t hear about is those #ActuallyAutistic that are on the lower end of the spectrum. The higher end wants donation monies to flow to them to improve their current lives and to stop research and studies. How is that fair to those who need constant care?
@Jason15569153@WilliamShatner I am the mother of an autistic, not an autism mama or autism warrior mom. They do more harm to their children in the name of helping them. What a 💩 show to watch. They know everything in their NT bubble and love to throw pity parties for their amazing diverse children
@Nat_Just_Nat @WilliamShatner Language matters. I am the mother of a non verbal autistic. He he intelligent and cognitively sharper than most of his peers. He speaks with a device and would be considered “low functioning.” People should beware of such labels. It’s ableist to use them. TY for making that point

has there ever been a greater act of aggression against tourists than naming two consecutive railway stops "Newark Penn Station" and "New York Penn Station"
This tweet is for Dr. Ford. You put yourself through so much and I want you to know it wasn’t in vain. You started a movement and we’ll see it through. If they won’t listen to our voices, then they’ll listen to our vote.
Those 50 senators who voted yes largely hail from states comprising far fewer people than the 48 who voted no. Our system rewards less populated regions with greater power. The tensions we see politically are thus a reflection of the divisions between urban and rural America.
I’ve been in combat. I’ve testified before Congress. In many ways testifying was much more intimating. Anyone who voluntarily steps forward to do it, especially if they’re sharing a personally trauma, has guts. What #ChristineBlasleyFord is doing today takes unimaginable courage.
@cara19783 @CMYKim34 @SiaFurlerSource@Sia I agree. She moves me and for a child that lacks the ability to outwardly express his feelings, it is truly wonderful to see him have a positive experience listening to her music. It’s a thing of beauty and I’m grateful.
