Cole Caufield has changed his number to 13 in honor of Johnny Hockey according to his latest Instagram post.
Such a heartfelt post from the @CanadiensMTL star.
I’m sick of people trying to gaslight everyone by telling them “we’ve always had fires in Alberta.” Of course, we’ve always had fires. But the last few years are off the charts. I grew up here. The average used to be 12 HOURS of smoke cover in a summer. Now it’s days and weeks.
Maybe it's the exhaustion of seeing so many communities burn and residents fleeing and losing everything and smoke suffocating our summers with growing regularity, but it seems like we should probably have a grown-up talk about wildfires now.
Listening to Edmonton rock out to Simple Plan at K Days in the smoke and rain, which will be followed by the nightly fireworks, all while reading about the Jasper fire and possible Alberta tornados, don’t need to write a dystopia novel when I’m living through one.
Fort McMurray was too high a price to pay. In dollars, $9B.
Jasper, a literal national treasure, is a rich history that we can not replace - but we may yet find out the price to try.
Enough is enough.
Stop voting for governments that aren’t taking serious action on climate.
@SkipIsChris I'm so sorry, Chris :( Jasper is one of my favourite places to be and it is absolutely devastating (and infuriating) what's happening right now.
