I hope this makes YOU smile! Meet Virginia. She's a recent graduate of The Genesis Course.
"Thank you so much for this greatest blessing by offering this course. Still sending many prayers for you and your family.
Many many blessings to you and your family."
~Virginia C.
How would you like to be able to read and write in HEBREW and translate the first chapter of Genesis from the original Hebrew Bible?
Virginia and all the graduates of The Genesis Course want to tell YOU personally: "If I can do it, you can do it!"
@Israel The @duolingo app is great for learning Hebrew, but these two books by Miiko Shaffier @LearnHebrewtv are needed first to learn the alphabet. יום עברי שמח
A few months ago I made a quick stop at the burial place of the holy Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai. Here's a video I took as I walked in around 10pm. Turn on your sound to get the full unedited vibe:)
Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai was a disciple of Rabbi Akiva. He's known for his contributions to Jewish law and mysticism, and is traditionally credited with the Zohar. He was public enemy #1 to the Romans yet he succeeded in hiding from the Romans in a cave for 13 years!

House (of) the-Holy
The BehYT HahMeeK-DahSH was a universal spiritual center, where Jews as well as Gentiles went to serve the one God.
Notice SahN-D-LahR sounds like the English word “sandal,” but the Hebrew word for sandal is SahN-DahL! SahN-DahL has been used in Hebrew since ancient times, influenced by the 2nd Temple Per., and comes from the Greek word sandalon, which also gives us the English word “sandal”!
I recently visited the Old Yishuv Court Museum in Jerusalem. Among the exhibits showcasing the era was this display of a shoemaker with his tools.

You can see this word posted in the display (without vowels). Can you make it out?
Did you know that in Hebrew, community is:
קְהִלָה
K-HeeLahH?
Have you been to the "Our Community" section of https://t.co/6HMMirSEb0?
Craig is Jewish & newly able to read Hebrew. He celebrated a bar mitzvah to mark this milestone!
Your stories fill my heart with joy daily!
On a recent trip to Y-RooSHahLahYeeM (Jerusalem) I discovered the Old Yishuv Court Museum.
"Yishuv" means “settlement” in Hebrew. The term "Old Yishuv" is describing a period of Jewish settlement in Israel during the Ottoman era.
In Hebrew it looks like this:

(Leviticus) 23:34
"Say to the children of Israel: On the fifteenth day of this seventh month there shall be the holiday (of) the-Booths to G-d, [to last] seven days."
Did you know that the Jewish festival of SooKohT starts this Monday at sundown (October 6, 2025)? The whole country is getting ready! Let's cover some holiday vocab:)
סֻכָּה
SooKahH means a booth or hut.
סֻכֹּת
SooKohT means booths.
הַסֻכּוֹת
HahSooKohT means the-booths.
"The Nation of Israel lives", isn't a biblical phrase, but it does convey G-d's promise to the Jewish people that His covenant with us is eternal and His legacy with us is as everlasting as nature itself.
I thought you might like to see that expression broken down clearly:)
Lately, I've been receiving more and more emails from people that end the email with the three words Am Yisrael Chai. Do you know what these words mean?
"...This has had a profound impact on my life—in just a few short months, I’ve gone from knowing zero Hebrew to being able to read it and gaining a head start in conversational skills. Thank you, thank you, thank you!”
~Craig
Certificate Achieved! Meet Craig:)
Craig has been joyfully reconnecting with his roots since June 2025. His journey began with my bestselling books "Learn to Read Hebrew in 6 Weeks!", "The Hebrew Workbook" and "The Hebrew Reader", and then continued with The Genesis Course.
Here's Craig's story in his own words:
“תוֹדָה רַבָּה! I’ve been reading Hebrew every day, and by speaking it here and there, it’s truly amazing how many wonderful Jewish people I’ve met whom I wouldn’t have otherwise....
