ಶ್ರೀ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ಮತ್ತು ಬಲರಾಮರನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲುವ ಉದ್ದೇಶದಿಂದ ಜರಾಸಂಧನು ಮಥುರೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಹದಿನೇಳು ಬಾರಿ ದಾಳಿ ಮಾಡಿದನು.

ಆದರೆ, ಪ್ರತಿ ಬಾರಿಯೂ ಶ್ರೀ ಕೃಷ್ಣನು ಜರಾಸಂಧನ ಸೈನ್ಯವನ್ನು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ನಾಶಪಡಿಸಿದರೂ, ಜರಾಸಂಧನ ಜೀವವನ್ನು ಬೇಕೆಂದೇ ಉಳಿಸಿದನು.
ಪ್ರತಿ ಬಾರಿಯೂ ಸೋತು ಹಿಂತಿರುಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಜರಾಸಂಧನು ನಾಡಿನಾದ್ಯಂತ ಸಂಚರಿಸಿ, ಕೃಷ್ಣನಿಗೆ ವೈರಿಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದ ರಾಜರನ್ನು ಭೇಟಿಯಾಗಿ, ಆತನ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಒಗ್ಗೂಡಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.
ಒಂದು ದಿನ ಇದನ್ನು ಅರ್ಥಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗದೆ ಬಲರಾಮನು ಶ್ರೀ ಕೃಷ್ಣನನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದನು:
"ನೀನು ಪ್ರತಿ ಬಾರಿಯೂ ಜರಾಸಂಧನ ಜೀವವನ್ನು ಏಕೆ ಉಳಿಸುತ್ತೀಯಿ?"

ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಮುಗುಳ್ನಗುತ್ತಾ ಶ್ರೀ ಕೃಷ್ಣನು ಹೀಗೆ ಉತ್ತರಿಸಿದನು:
"ಜರಾಸಂಧನನ್ನು ಜೀವಂತವಾಗಿ ಬಿಡಲು ಒಂದು ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟ ಉದ್ದೇಶವಿದೆ. ಆತನೇ ಖುದ್ದಾಗಿ ಜಗತ್ತಿನಾದ್ಯಂತ ಇರುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಅಧರ್ಮಿ ಮತ್ತು ಶತ್ರು ರಾಜರನ್ನು ಒಂದೆಡೆ ಸೇರಿಸಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದೆ ಕರೆತರುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಇದರಿಂದ ಆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ದುಷ್ಟ ಆಡಳಿತಗಾರರನ್ನು ಒಂದೇ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾಶಪಡಿಸಲು ನಮಗೆ ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ನಾವು ಈಗಲೇ ಜರಾಸಂಧನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದರೆ, ನಾವು ಆ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬ ಅಧರ್ಮಿ ಶತ್ರುಗಳನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಿ, ಅವರನ್ನು ಒಬ್ಬೊಬ್ಬರಾಗಿ ಸಂಹಾರ ಮಾಡಲು ಪ್ರಪಂಚದ ಮೂಲೆ ಮೂಲೆಗೆ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಿಸಬೇಕಾಗುತ್ತದೆ."
