We have a limited number of air quality sensors available at the Main Branch of the Lafayette Public Library. Take one home (check out some books and board games while you’re at it), follow the instructions, and start collecting data. Begin your #citizenscience journey today!
Ready for a #makerfairelafayette take & make? Sign up for a FREE air-quality sensor prototype from @learnlafayette & @CGI_USA and help collect #lafayettela air quality data. Learn more about the device at a virtual training on 4/8 at 6PM.

If you're local to Lafayette or have a network of friends there, please consider sharing this from @LafParishSchool. Let's spread the word about these low cost internet options. We have a large #DigitalDivide to address and this may help some families in need. Thank you!
The intersection "thing" kept transmitting thru a tropical storm! Long story, but that was also one of the last "things" installed at an intersection 😉. Now all of our "things" our on businesses, some are at @ULLafayette, and others are looking for a home to be at. Hint, hint...
So what do LEaRN "things" look like? Glad you asked! Here's a couple photos. (1) "Small Thing 2002" The sensors and #RaspberryPi are inside the enclosure. One hole has a fan in it to create negative air pressure. (2) A first generation "thing" being installed at an intersection.
What color is the air today? The @EPA's Air Quality Index has 6 air quality categories for you to help plan your day. Get #ReadyToLEARN about the #AQI at https://t.co/ovUR6POkEM. For a closer look at factors that impact our local air quality, check out https://t.co/Qs004oOyhJ.
As we head into the #MemorialDay weekend, our thoughts are with all of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice that a hero can make for our country, and for the loved ones left behind. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.
What good is data if you can't use it? Our LEaRN Dashboard shows all of the data collected by our network of "things" that are deployed across Lafayette. Check it out and let us know if you have any questions! #IoT#AirQuality#SensorThings#SmartCities

Using the @opengeospatial#SensorThings API enables interoperability of our #AirQuality data with #IoT data from all different kinds of sensors. It's like giving you the ability to create a mashup of our data with your data!
#TechTuesday! We want to share more about our LEARN "Things". Each sensor connects to a #RaspberryPi placed in a container. Data is sent to the #Azure cloud using an @opengeospatial API called #SensorThings. That's why we call them "Things." #IoT

One of the biggest challenges of implementing #IoT solutions is expense. The air sensors built by @learnlafayette are low cost, proving that #innovation doesn't have to break the bank. Be smart, plan well, and always be #ReadyToLEARN something new.
Our LEaRN sensors also measure #Ozone. Bad ozone forms near ground level and can irritate your respiratory system and aggravate #asthma. Check out this graphic and follow this link to @EPA's site if you are #ReadyToLEaRN more about ozone: https://t.co/NLIzKd44bV
Apologies! Our previous tweet had a broken link. Here is the right link to go read about #ParticulateMatter on @EPA’s website:

We get a lot of questions about what the LEaRN sensors are measuring. One data point we are collecting is the level of #ParticulateMatter (PM) in the air.

@theadvertiser Congrats to all of the graduates this year from @ULLafayette, and thank you for being such a great partner for our work in the local community on LEaRN!
What's that picture of? That's one of our early prototype #AirQuality#IoT#sensors that we created when designing the "things" that make up the network of "things" we are deploying. We'll tell you more about them in future posts!
Guess who's coming to the #LafayetteScienceMuseum? We are!
We're excited to announce that we are incorporating the LEaRN project into an upcoming exhibit. Special thanks to @LSMuseum for being such a great #STEM resource for Lafayette! More details to come soon!! #ReadyToLEaRN
