原因を探るため、やりとりしていたら、嘘をつくことへの「罪悪感がない」という事実が判明し、驚いた。

英検1級のエッセイ、スピーチの格好のネタになると思い、日英の暗唱用スクリプトにしてみた。

本田圭佑さんは、今の子どもたちのサッカーが上達した理由にYouTubeを挙げていた。英語も同じだと思う。

情報格差が限りなく小さくなった今、問われるのは学ぶ主体性と意欲。

「意欲格差」が「能力格差」に直結する時代なのかもしれない。

自分の失敗に向き合える人は強い。

失敗は誰もがする。でも、真正面から向き合える人は、そう多くはない。

私自身、仕事で大きな失敗を何度もした。逃げ出したかった。言い訳もしたかった。それでも、逃げたい気持ちを抑え、向き合ってきた。

いつしか、こう呼ばれるようになった。「転んでもただでは起きない男」。

失敗した事実は消せない。でも、その後の行動で、失敗の意味を変えることはできる。

仕事の失敗は仕事で取り返すしかない。私はそう信じてきた。

今はつらいと思う。でも、いつかさらに素晴らしい仕事をして、「あの時の失敗が今の自分をつくった」と振り返る日が来ることを、心から願っています。

私事ですが、通訳人生で一番の失敗をしました。1時間の会議を一人で逐次通訳した後、直ぐに30分の同時通訳。内容が難しいだけでなく予想以上に脳にダメージが残っており、頭が回転せず一度だけ完全な誤訳をしてしまいました。俺はこんなもんじゃねぇいいから頭働けと直ぐに自分を奮い立たせてアドレナリン出して直ぐにリカバリーしてその後は問題なく通訳を終えたのですが、久しぶりに凹んでしまい悔しくて一睡もできませんでした。

27歳からやり直し英語から開始して今に至りますが、あの時のように自分の英語力を徹底的に磨く期間を約10ヶ月間に限定して設けたいと思います。年末まで宣言した通り音読は徹底しつつ、2027年7月31日までと決めてやり切ります。この目標はノートに記したので毎日見てその日まで継続します。

通訳練習の音声も録音し分析するため、Xにも投稿します。人生に遅すぎることはないと自分は常に思っています。後悔しないように徹底的に修行します。少しでも成長したなと思ってもらえるよう頑張ります。上手くいかない時からが本当の勝負。約10ヶ月間 頑張れば人生を好転させられます。少し期間が長いですが、引き続き一緒に頑張って頂けたら嬉しいです。

日本からは『進撃の巨人』と『鋼の錬金術師』の2作品がランクイン。

驚いたのは、どちらの原作漫画も米国の一部学校で禁書扱いになっていること。

『進撃の巨人』はイスラエルとガサの状況に重なり、正義とは何か？を深く考えさせてくれる良書なのだが…。
