It’s common sense — trains like these need two in the cab. The FRA recently EXTENDED public commenting on its proposed two-person crew rule into December; if you haven’t already, leave your comment, and let friends and family know that now is the time to make their voice heard.
“…..No more shall the underrepresented be oppressed, the underpaid be spat upon, the overworked forgotten, or the working American be thrown to the wayside. We are America, and we will win this war.” #UnionStrong#Teamsters#BLET
(1/3) It is time to stop asking why the unions have pushed us to the brink of a nationwide rail shutdown, and instead start asking why the carriers have pushed us to this point.
ATTENTION, RAILROAD SHIPPERS
This is your daily reminder that railroad workers are on the job today, ready and willing to move your shipments. It is the companies we work for who are preventing us from doing so. #UnionStrong#UnionProud
T-Minus 7 days. My brothers and sisters just want a slightly bigger piece of the pie and to be treated fairly. In 7 days, or less, we’re going to find out! #UnionStrong#BLET https://t.co/CsCSM2i7rL
Labor has been waiting for a contract worthy of ratifying for over 2 yrs! Sometimes you have to pay to play! We don’t want to #strike , but we deserve better! #UnionStrong#BLET#Teamsters
The Association of American Railroads estimates that a nationwide strike could cost about $2 billion each day, while shippers groups rally Congress to intervene in the event a strike seems imminent.

Remember when Abraham Lincoln said, “Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration.”? (apparently not)
Automation in the name of “progress” is just the opposite! This nations Class 1 RR’s are seeking to remove as many TY&E as possible. Seems the rest of the shipping industry is reading the same script! #BLE&T #unionforlife#unionproud#UnionStrong@CyrusWestern@SenJohnBarrasso
An estimated 572 full-time jobs at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach were lost in 2020 and 2021 to automation. Meanwhile, profits for the global shipping industry soared during the pandemic to over $190 billion in 2021. https://t.co/l0RCKT2XG0
NEW: U.S. railroad workers may be weeks away from a monumental national strike.
Rail companies have refused to negotiate in good faith for 3 years despite record profits, and workers say conditions have become unlivable.
115,000 rail workers could strike as soon as September.
The real question here is: Rail service in this country has become so bad, if rail workers across the country walk off the job next week, will anyone actually notice?
I say let's try it and find out.
Is the US Economy at an inflection point? Was deregulation worth it? Today’s Class 1’s certainly must think so! Meanwhile they’re bleeding employees. #BLE&T #unionproud#unionforlife
Draconian labor policies, “cost-cutting” measures, and mass layoffs are decimating US railroad workers for the sake of corporate profits. And the effects are reverberating throughout the supply chain: by @mel_buer
