For example, they wanted a LOT more scenes of Lestat's childhood, and had them all written and ready, but AMC told them they couldn't afford as many of those period piece scenes so it had to change

I agree with the first sentence, but they really think the season avoided male queer content? Do they think queer content equals sex? Queer content is ROMANCE. And there was plenty! The "fans" need to stop fetishizing gay sex.

just because a scene is icky doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be there. a lot of people would like to erase every scene that makes them uncomfortable from a show/movie, but those scenes are there for a reason (most times)

I think a lot about how, in the book, Gabrielle tells Lestat that she felt as though she lived through him and he was the male part of her. And there are signs in the book that seems to show he feels the same way about her in reverse, which I think the show writers picked up on.

episode 7 really underlined that point about how we only see lestat in corsets and getting his nails done when gabby’s not around bc she expects him to be a man

which i think also has a lot to do with why people think he is ‘annoying’ ‘over the top’ because his queerness is louder and he cries and he’s flamboyant, and it feels like s1 lestat is more acceptable because he was ‘classier’ and his emotions leaned in one direction
