@nntaleb@PTetlock And the researchers themselves are guilty of dumbing down their results to make their research more understandable, more likely to be retweeted, more likely to get noticed.
@nntaleb@PTetlock I had always assumed single numerical estimates are manufactured by middlemen to dumb the science down for the lay person. For example, in my region the guidance is you are only at high risk of catching covid 19 from another if you spend 15 minutes or more with them.
@BenRickertt My conclusion was slightly different. Wizsec claims all 1 million disputed BTC are not Craigs and thus... 'would potentially -eliminate- the impact of the above threat'. Am I misunderstanding something?
Respected economists, Ben Bernanke and others, are stating the flattening yield curve is not predicting another recession. They downplayed the yield curve prior to the 2008 financial crises too...

Comparing the advent of crypto to the advent of the automobile:
"When the automotive industry first started out there was more than 1,300 American automotive companies that went out of business before world war 2." - Mike Maloney
@lsukernik@BenRickertt Yes. Crypto investment is all hype. But, so are tech stocks which trade at 20 times earnings. We are playing a game to see who can sell their sardines before the cards collapse, but, let's not conclude that crypto is uniquely dangerous.
@aantonop Corn is America's ingenious way of executing agriculture price controls. Making corn more or less profitable than other crops controls farmland scarcity. Controlling agriculture prices gives governments more control over inflation. And Americans think we are anti-communism.
@BenRickertt My problems are a fair representation of the norm. Technology will overcome these challenges. There are 100 different ways to attack the problems and promising technologies abound.
@BenRickertt Due to tree coverage issues and an inefficiently orientated roof, I cannot get maximum efficiency out of a solar panel. Additionally, if I wanted to be 100% self sufficient, that would require significant additional costs for energy storage.
