@MrZachG If we can only get folks to see MTSS as a vehicle for school improvement. It should be a general education model, with explicit instruction anchoring Tier I
@MrZachG@VinceBoley@F3Kpilot Homogenous groups for skills, especially in small groups for intensification. But all must still have access to core curriculum, preferably in heterogenous settings
“Education is for the student’s benefit, not for the benefit of their future employer, and that students go to school not merely to acquire skills but to develop an entire social and intellectual life: to have something good and to have it forever” @dwaldenwrites
@NeilRudel I agree that conference championships should mean something. That’s why Notre Dame shouldn’t be in with their resume. Don’t let them back door their way in because others play in a champ and lose, and ND never has to navigate this
@LandonTengwall Any insights/thoughts to share about considering going for 2 when tied 16-17, 30 seconds left? All the momentum at that point. Go for the win. If not converting and losing, I think fans give Franklin the benefit of the doubt.
How much if this planning takes place throughout the week? When closed to gap to 17-10, I was in the stands staying we need to start thinking about our best 2 point play. The way our offense had been, extending to OT was probably less than a 50/50 shot, despite the momentum
This forthcoming article explains how states can save endangered rural school districts from voucher and charter school expansion.
Specifically, it argues that states can define rural districts as "education preserves."

When did this become acceptable? Our NAEP scores in reading across the nation and in Pennsylvania have been flat for DECADES, and further declined with the release yesterday of the 2024 results. When did this become acceptable???
The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), the Nation's Report Card have been released for 2024.
The results for Pennsylvania grade 4? Declining. 33% of PA 4th grade students were proficient.

I fundamentally believe we’re missing something when we talk about spacing and interleaving without talking about track design. @Kris_Boulton’s Substack is an excellent resource for learning about such blind spots. This is a case of cog sci providing principles without solutions.
The NGSS standards encourage some weird practices, and science programs are often built for inquiry (which is particularly harmful for students with LD) but they can be modified to include the core components of explicit instruction

There is no reason Pennsylvania should reverse course on a plan that is on track to finally make our public school funding system fair, equitable, and constitutional — once and for all.

@MrZachG This also comes with time and experience. Unfortunately, the turnover rate for school admin continues to climb. Our schools that need leadership the most, those with students most in need, often suffer the worst in this regard, too.
We need to start applying the science of learning to adult learning in schools - because it's the same science. Revisit prior learning frequently, distribute learning over time, use models and deliberate practice, and give teachers opportunities to act upon feedback.
