@itvracing I disagree with Barry on the isolated incident. This happens to ex racehorses too often. Free borders from Ireland, no controls of the lorries etc. Before this documentary, I don't want to know how many ex racers faced the same brutal end. This is just the tip of the iceberg

@itvracing Why are horses being sent to an abattoir in the 1st place? Surely if they are suffering & in pain, they could be humanely euthanized at the stable they reside at by a qualified vet. Ban horses going to abattoirs.

@gerryreffo @itvracing I don't have evidence to dispute his claim, but the public are unconvinced its an isolated incident. Can he prove it? If not, I suggest the only thing 'isolated' about this 'incident' is that it was caught on camera. Complete (unblinkered) review needed.

@itvracing I'm a Racing fan for 50 years, but disappointed by Barry Johnson. There is no hope for horse welfare after racing if the Chair of Welfare Board so quickly dismisses a big problem as 'one off'. Sad. Horses deserve better#

DEFRA gave Trading Standards a job - they CANT DO 🤷‍♀️"In terms of animal welfare Trading Standards advise me they prioritise traditional food chain animals and do not have the resources to enforce the welfare legislation in respect of horses.Advise I signpost you to the RSPCA 🤬

Somebody on my yard has been subjected to some nasty business and had a visit from BHS for neglect - which has been proved totally unfounded by the BHS. This horse is kept immaculately. So, WHY didn't BHS come and see me when I was reported? I think I looked in a worse state ☹️
