I hope we just stick with not cutting funding; teachers just received a raise in 2019. We're already short, working in-person and online. No teacher should be cut because of funding. #txlege
Abbott to TPPF, talking TX transplants: “1 thing that I desperately want to see [#txlege] pass this session is I want to restore teaching civics in the classroom …. focusing on TX values, TX exceptionalism, patriotism, the US Constitution, the core values that have made TX, TX."
A coalition of educators, advocates, businesses, and other organizations are calling on lawmakers to #ProtectHB3. Read their letter here: https://t.co/4NOPGKRjGh #TxEdStrong#txed#txlege
@LtGovTX statement on the biennial revenue estimate includes...
“We will:
Maintain the historic funding increases in education from last session as well as teacher pay increases.” 👏👏👏

The legislative session begins tomorrow! Is the additional funding for schools promised in HB 3 under threat because of the pandemic?

As the 87th Texas legislative begins tomorrow. I pray that all members, family members, staff, and guest all stay safe. Also praying for the men and women in #TexasTan protecting everyone. I hope all members keep public education Priority!! #TxEd#TxLege#Texas@DilleyISD
If there are cuts, I hope it doesn't come to Elementary through High School. We have worked two jobs this year, online and in-person, without anyone caring for teacher health. #txed#txlege
Texas says 156,596 fewer children enrolled in public schools this Oct compared to last Oct, during the pandemic.
Most are in early grades, where school is optional.
It is still unclear whether Texas will cut school funding as a result.

Based on what we've heard the last few months, it sounds like Texas legislators do NOT plan to walk away from the school funding commitment they made last year through #HB3.
We're looking forward to working with the #TXlege to continue and build on that commitment. #TXed 2/
Let's say this and say it again as we enter the #txleg session! Even after HB3 Texas remains FAR behind almost every other state in per student funding. We can and must do better. Join us at @JustFundItTX to speak up with advocates across TX for more funding for public ed. #txed
Thank you @DanHuberty in fighting to keep HB3 intact! Public education cannot take cuts this #txlege. Wife and I have been teaching in-person and doing online, while trying to raise a child. #txlege
“The commitment is still there,” @DanHuberty said.
Good to see so many Texas leaders talk about the importance of maintaining funding for pre-k & the other education investments made last session.

Texas' HB447 would legalize recreational #marijuana. The bill's sponsor believes the revenue from sales of legal marijuana could help address the state's budget gap. https://t.co/XA2Kyg2FVc
Money wasted on high stakes tests that could be used to TEACH instead of tell us what we already know... Stop wasting taxpayer $$$$ to identify & shame poor Ss & their Ts. Invest in public school ed! https://t.co/UOMpHpVjPC #txlege@GovAbbott@TXSBOE#txed
