DFW and Love Field flight diversions are always fun, but for some people it's a real treat: so far the biggest downgrade came for the unfortunate souls who left San Jose Del Cabo just to end up in Midland TX. Greatest WTF? The honor goes to Southwest, who is diverting their Kansas City to Dallas flight to... Los Angeles.
Depends mostly on what alignment Disney, Fox, and Skydance are willing to pay for, and requires a lot of knowledge of the inside baseball dynamics, and makes an assumption that the B1G and SEC have any interest in making further moves but generally:
1) It depends what the other Texas schools do in the situation. Our interests, as well as Rice and UTSA's, are in keeping regionalism alive. We need to see where SMU lands, as well.
2) It depends on what the American looks like after the ACC's done. This is a decision that will be driven by the full-share ACC teams that are left - Cal and Stanford are gone if there are any major defections, and SMU barely has a vote. It is possible the ACC doesn't make any moves, it's also possible the broadcasters carve it up so they have one less mouth to feed.
3) Don't over-estimate the PAC - that they took Texas State is a sign of immense weakness - it means they got told no by every team remaining in the Mountain West and the American. I doubt they poach anyone else without some changes.
4) Don't under-estimate the PAC - they could pick up Cal, Stanford and SMU. A PAC with that alignment would be interesting.
5) Don't look for any moves from the Big 12. Nobody else is driving up Las Colinas from the American to the XII. The XII's only interest is in ACC teams that they haven't already rejected.
Obama: "One of the things you learn as president is government is terrible at keeping secrets. This idea of conspiracy theories -- if there were aliens or spaceships under the control of the US government that we knew about, seen, photographed, I promise you some guy guarding the installation would have taken a selfie with one of the aliens."
@RedditCFB They have no idea the level of excellence required to juggle that 3PM slot when every conference west of El Paso is playing. You got a B1G game running over into a slot you need for a 3:05 Southland kick? Too bad time to see if you can stream a 4-box on your refrigerator.
@RedditCFB I think we can all appreciate how St. Louis and Kansas City being in separate divisions with Houston and Cincinnati is a nice hat-tip to the "DFW and Houston have three conferences and Texas has six" stupidity in college sports.
@cameron19460429 Don't forget that hilarious interlude where Mexico invaded the US and nearly made it to Tucson before the Americans figured out there was a problem.
The thing you have to remember about the Papacy is that it’s a global institution and that dunking on the President of the United States is the equivalent of doing “who here hates the Yankees?” crowd work in Boston for 98% of the rest of the world.
I’m a New England Catholic, which means I don’t practice the faith and I oscillate daily on whether or not I even believe in god, but I will defend the church to the death from perfidious protestants
There's a cohort of American males that believe with 1-2 years dedicated practice they could win the Masters. As a marketer, it's important to understand that you can sell these people anything.
NASA is such a beautiful contradiction of the precision of mathematics and engineering combined with the idiot yeehaw spirit of Texas. Mission around the moon was commanded from a building that has longhorns grazing on one side and a swamp full of gators on the other. -OS
Companies that HQ out of Austin will eventually end up in the position that AT&T and USAA were in in San Antonio - either eventually moving to Dallas because of the mechanics of running a multi-billion company out of a secondary market, or having to build a second HQ in another city (Phoenix for USAA) for the same reason.
An example? Employee pool. Austin (and being honest, San Antonio) can produce great graduates, but even with the size of UT-Austin and the quick growth of UT-San Antonio, they still can't put out research-level graduates at the same rate that North Texas, UT-Arlington and UT-Dallas can (and with SMU becoming a full research university this year, that disparity will only grow).
