High school around 2000 is pretty surreal in retrospect. We all had this idea that all jobs existed. People just talked about these elaborate dream careers as if any degree automatically came with a job for life at a minimum salary above anything entry level.

It was the last vestiges of the world where college degrees were 100% guaranteed actual certificates for jobs that were naturally compensated for being useful. Now they are mostly a useless certification for a list of intangible or irrelevant things in bloated programs capitalizing on the idea of compensation that no longer exists by overcharging trillions of dollars for certificate printing fees.

Boomers only experienced the world where college was always useful. Zoomers have only experienced a world where college is rarely useful. Millennials watched the transition when the system died out from under them,

This was a nearly identical experience to myself and so many of my peers. We were all told to make good grades, go to college, get a degree, get a good job, and have a good life. Now that so many are saddled with student loan debt can't afford a home they love to say we should have gone to trade school instead of getting a useless degree.

140k is the new poverty line for a family. It’s no wonder why nobody wants kids these days.

There is a huge benefits cliff between 40k and 80k for a family. You end up taking a huge hit if you make more than the poverty line. It’s like a huge trap. Healthcare is complexity broken, and so is childcare.

@chamath If it only effected sports betting and poker players this may be true but it also effects slot players who are some of the highest revenue generation for casinos.

@SavagePoker If you are asking if Sean would say something specifically at an MGM event then that's a totally different question than a member of the media. He is in a leadership role in that company. I don't want to speak for him but I'm guessing he would speak up. But not same same as media
